Any seat will work as long as it has a frame.

Both seats started out as springers neither of us liked the extra bounce.  Been having trouble downloading pic will add them in a few posts.

I purchased a Corbin two up, like the look, came with strips and I chose the rivets with black center and had indian chiefs around it.
You cant beat the solo seat look on the bike though, in my opinion.

So those with a corbin, did you find the tilt of the seat was poor? the wife keeps sliding ahead on mine.
I just took it off last week to have gel packs installed and have the front of the back seat built up to straighten it. I pick it up tomorrow and am interested to see how he did with it. I had to have it built up rather than shaved as the frame of the seat would not really allow for it to be cut down.

Have other Corbin owners of this seat on this bike (as it has to be one piece) found this to be an issue?

PS Trying to insert Pics but when I hit the insert image i just get the text ()

Yes - pics would be super.  Also, do you know what models of HD your seats came off of?

The front is a Harley police seat they are on ebay for around  $50.00  I recovered mine. the back is and older harley  seat pan which I also recovered.  If you can weld the front is not that hard to do.  the back takes a little more time.  if you have question or need pics let me know.
You can also fit a mustang seat for a nomad which is easer.  My wife did not like sitting up that high so I changed it to the currant set up.

Like the look of your solo seat! Ive been looking for one like this, need to trade my stock 2up seat for a solo, wife wont ride. Anyone got a solo to trade, let me know. :( :(

Aclone:  I was looking at some old posts looking at luggage racks.
Anyways, what did you use for seats to build that rig?  I'm installing a corbin 2-up right now on my 800, and building saddlebag racks, but I'm considering a double-solo set up in the future, maybe a winter project.   Just wondered what you used for solo seats???

Thanks,

Building a bracket to hold luggage rack is not that hard.  The height over the fender is the important part  under full load the fender mover about 4" as your are riding. if you need more info let me know will attach some pics. The numbers on the blue tape is the space required so the fender would not hit the seat or bracket. Mines a 1500 so you would have to figure your own mnumbers

To each their own.... and if somebody doesn't like it, then they shouldn't wast time looking at it and criticizing.... ;D....it really is "in the eye of the beholder." After all, we build/change them, or leave them as they came, to suit ourselves, not someone else. :)

You know the whole "eye of the beholder" thing. There are many differing opinions on looks. Fortunately, the drifter can pull-off most of them. I don't like solo's and bags on my drifter... had both. But some folks like them... and their bikes look great.  So I guess its just preference differences.

I don't think the stock seat is all that bad...I had a local guy stud mine to match the rest of the stuff, and with the bags on, you don't really see all the space under the back. I modded the solo rack to work with the 2-up seat, and it's all an assembly now that can be removed a one (big) piece and the solo put back on.  I know mine's a 1500, and your's is an 800, but except for size and the rear shocks, they are really very similar.

Yeah I dumped the oem solo for a corbin double... absolutely meets with my approval... I have gotten almost as many positive comments on the seat as the drifter itself.

I absolutely hate the look of the OEM two up. Mine came with a Corbin two up. Much nicer. They are pricey and I would probably never have bought one if it didn't come with it so I'm glad it did. I sold my solo saddle, rail, and rack and just use the two up corbin even though my wife rides her own bike.

Boaski

I bought my Drifter back in January from a guy that posted on here (joe28). When I got it the solo seat was on it.

I like the way it looked but it doesn't lend itself to hauling my wife on the back. In the mean time I took the bike apart and had some pin striping done.

I also cut the bottom of the windshield off and made some new mounting brackets to even out the gap around the headlight.

It's getting closer to the way I want it:

But the passenger problem still wasn't solved.

I decided to try a frilled Mustang seat cover:

I guess it works, but I still like the looks of the solo seat better. I think the old style luggage rack with a removable passenger pad may be the way to go. Has anyone made a combination rack / seat that bolts on to the existing seat bolts?

I'm fortunate to have access to a machine shop with a waterjet cutter as well as a CNC press/brake. It allows me to make some decent stuff but I'm not real quick at it; I have to rely on technology to make up for may general lack of talent.
