ATTENTION: DRIFTER 800 & 1500 RIDERS IN THE BELOIT / MADISON WI AREA:
Grasshopper Limited, a manufacturer of excellent driver backrests, is looking to develop one that will fit the Drifter 800 and 1500 with the solo OEM seat.  (As you know, there isn't much out there now with a backrest, except Corbins and they're expensive and pretty hard on an old biker's butt!)  I've put several of Grasshopper's driver backrests on various bikes and they are definitely the best you can get for the money (usually less than $100 on Ebay).

Lonnie, the owner-designer, would like to have some local Drifter owners ride over to his shop so he can take some measurements and design a mounting bracket for the 800 and 1500.  He will certainly make it worth your trouble and the rest of us Drifter guys with sore backs will be forever grateful!

Please give Lonnie a call at 608-346-1337.

I just spoke with Lonnie today and all he is waiting for is for someone to stop by with there bike for a few hours.  Any one in the Beloit / Madison area would be doing the rest of the Drifter Riders a great service.  If anyone is even close to him and doesn't want to ride in, he could trailer your bike in to get the measurements.  Please give Lonnie a call at 608-346-1337.

Thanks; it sort of keeps things organized in the duffel too!

I have a 'system' that I've been using for years on my 1500.  First, I cut a milk crate to make the shape in the first pix.  I put it into a zip top duffel and strap it to the helmet holders with a long bunji and throw a net over it from the same holders to the rear grab rail.  Works great as a trunk and back rest.

Lonnie makes a good product, I had one of his backrests on a Suzuki C50.  You can also make something quite nice pretty easily.....................

Mr Bill

Hey, I'm in Delafield, WI.  I've got a 1500 Drifter with stock surfboard double seat, stock solo seat, and corbin solo seat.  I would be happy to lend my bike to the cause however I don't think I can make it out to Madison anytime soon as I am very busy.  Lonnie would be welcome to come over to my house in Delafield and take some measurements.  I live right off interstate 94 and it is very easy to find...about 45 min from Madison.  I tried calling Lonnie however I got his answering machine and it said the mailbox was full, so I was unable to leave a message.  Lonnie can contact me at:  262-844-5111, or 262-501-1104.  I will be available all weekend, but going out of the country on business next week.  While I am away I can be reached at skiviskaves@yahoo.com
Regards,
Mr. Bill

If he makes a rest for the 800 I will be one of the first in line to purchase. ;D
So anyone close to him help him out PLEASE.
