I PLACED A DEER WARNING WHISTLES ON MY DRIFTER

I live on a small island with alot of deer. I put deer whistles on my pick up and have only hit 3 deer since. The deer usually jump out and hit me. I find on my bike that loud pipes help more than anything else.....

Its sort of like the Elephant repellent joke. The chances of hitting a deer is small, so folks who have these things swear they work based upon the fact THEY have not had a collision with a deer.

The AAA doesn't list the devices in their report on how to avoid collisions with animals. Additionally, according to this Washington State University paper there is no evidence of them working.

If they are cheap, and you want to try them, go for it... just don't depend upon them so much that you become complacent.

O M G hitting a deer on my bike would be devastating, I need to install some of those!!!

 The previous owner of my Drifter put one under each floorboard. I don't know if they work but figure what the heck, I will leave them there.

None on my Drifter but my Dad always had the on his cars. Can't say for sure they worked, but the again he never hit a deer.
