The hose is wide open inside the airbox, and the ring is just a rubber grommet that holds and seals the o.d. of the hose...but you have an aftermarket air filter assy, so the plumbing is missing, except for the hose to the valve... you should also have some wiring that has no home... they connected to the idle solenoids that probably aren't there, either.

so why don't i have that fitting on mine? is it a left over from the carb years?

Troll

Here is a diagram of the plumbing... and where it goes

I have a 1/2 inch plastic plug in mine, but the usual plug seems to be a marble...hence the name, marbling....sure made a difference on the over run and sometimes it would pop on an upshift...all gone, now

and you recommend plugging it up? Cloth? Tie it off?

Troll

It goes into a hole in the back of the right airbox that you don't have. Right near the end is a mark where the hose passed through the backing plate...

Yes, 1/2" diameter, long pre shaped double curve form. You say they plug it up?? I am back firing, which is why Im revisiting this. It looks like there was a ring / clamp on it at sometime.

Troll

Is it about 1/2" inside diameter? It's probably the air intake for the decel valve...the one that everybody plugs to stop the backfiring.

Ok,

I'm almost done with a front bevel gear bearing (and shim) replacement, I am reassembling, have test driven it - all ok, except! for the life of me, I cannot see where to attach one of the vacuum switch hoses. I have the ones that lead to the switches on the cylinders on ok, the narrow one that heads over towards the throttle body is ok too.  I suspect the last one, largest diameter that leads from the brake side of the bike, heads towards the air cleaner assembly, but I don't see it. Parts fiche, Google, Clymers and Kawasaki service manual doesn't show it as far as I can see. Where does that hose go?

I should mention that there is a Kuryakyn air charger on it - which I'll eventually replace since I can't hug the tank properly with it there.

Thanks!
