Isn't it nice not having to deal with fender and case rust?  gotta love the fiberglass.

Good Job SD. I'm happy you could bring the Drifter back from oblivion!

Cheers.

Great!

You know you still have a LOT to look at... make sure you replace all the brake/clutch fluids... condensation is a real problem for those fluids... lube, check for dry rot, all the normal stuff for a vehicle sitting that long.

I'd add some injector cleaner/fuel additives to 2-3 tanks of gas too. Brake pads might be bad too, so be careful.

Cheers.

update:

*my newly purchased 1999 1500 Drifter sat out in the elements uncovers for over a year

1] yes it was air bubbles in the gas, it was not venting, fixed!!!

2] neutral light came on after i wiggled the bulb, fixed!!!

3]no blown headgasket, the water in the oil was nothing more than condensation build up, oil/filter change, fixed!!!

4]motor was not overheating, fan came on after it idled for 30+ minutes!!!.

great news, i'm having a few cold beers tonight!!!

thanks to all for your answers to my questions!!!

***buying a bike that sat outside like this one, could be a big bag of worms.
