ECU's are pretty reliable, thankfully, they're expensive.
I've got a spare bike to swap bits off, saves firing a parts cannon at it.
Further to my post above, don't forget to check the tilt switch behind the tank rear fitting.
I've got one in Gooseberry, new old stock, in original box.
Few marks, no ancilliaries but I have a pair of badges and front and rear fenders if required.
Located in Northern England.
Hydraulic lifters can be noisy until they fill with oil, takes around 10 minutes on mine.
Quote from: Tim on March 07, 2021, 21:08:35 PMAny chance you could do the solo seat rail?
Dual seat one can be cut down, doesn't look too bad.
Got 2 '99 J1's and they ride different, similar miles too.
Fault finding is a breeze, pull one part off the other to find the problem.
Pull the clutch cable cover off where it meets the engine and check behind, might be the thrust bearing worn.
Pop a new rod seal on while you're in there, easy job, saves leaks later.
Check inside the engine kill switch, they can come apart.
Also check the side stand switch connections and the clutch kill switch.
Fuel pumps normally pretty reliable
Aftermarket ones are around £150 from memory.
Super rare and hard to find.
Try picclic uk, searches eBay worldwide.
Alternatively, look at Harley single seat fitting kits, I've seen them used on 1500's with the leather tractor seats from India, look pretty good.
Otherwise you may have to make your own, it can be done with a little thought.
I have the full set up!
No rear footrests, though.
Plus many more bits.
Garage clearout in England.
Stuff getting hard to find sensibly priced now.
(Grab rails are easy to cut down to make a single seat rail if on a budget)
Here's some pics...
You'll also need the support bar and grab rail.
I may have a couple at the back of the garage, I'll look later.
(I'll also buy your single seat to soften the blow!)
You may have to remove the rear rack as it could hit the seat fittings when it rises.
Here you go...
I saw one on eBay UK the other day, I'll see if I can find it again.
Just ordered a set, can't complain at £13.99+£5 postage.
Had stuff off these guys before, always competitively priced.
Thanks for the link.
Couple of Hepco and Becker ones on eBay UK, not cheap though.
They're about £19,000 here in the UK, five times the price of a decent Drifter!
I just bought a set of these mounts for a project I'm working on.
Paid £125 with delivery off eBay, but later found them for £95 on Google!
They took two weeks to travel 160 miles from Glasgow to my home address, upon arrival it appears from the label they originated in Pakistan.
There was no instructions, and I was unable to find any online.
Anyway, 6 pieces of mounting bracket plus M8 nuts, bolts, washers and dome nuts to mount the bags only.
These were poor quality so I replaced them with some better ones from my garage.
You may also need some M10 Japanese thread bolts (1.25 pitch I think) to attach the mounts, unless you rethread the holes - I just used an old M10 bolt, a socket bar and some grease!
The long mounts are required on a single seat bike with the smaller mounts to attach the dual seat and grab rail.
There is no clearance problems but be aware if your bags are square style and not sloped ones they may rub against the rear shocks.
I'll post some pics when I get chance.
Great video, well done - very atmospheric!
They advertise on eBay here in the UK, seems pretty well made stuff.

Ebay is the way to go, pretty cost effective too.
Just shows, regular maintenance pays off.
Well done!
