Sell it on Ebay. The Solo Seats sell quick for the Drifters.
There are always one or two OEM solo seats for an 800 on Ebay and there is a company selling nice leather vintage Harley style solo seats that bolt right on the 800 Drifter.

This sounds like you have a bad ground. Check all the ground to frame connections. If all else fails try running a ground wire from frame to ground on one of the lights that is not working and see if that corrects it.

My 03 was bottoming out with the spring on highest setting. I bought a new replacement aftermarket YSS progressive shock and all is great now. The old shock loses much of its Nitrogen charge after 15 years and fails to work. However sit down because the shock is about $500! Don't be tempted to buy a used one, They are all going to be over 12 years old!

I had exactly the same issue when I bought mine. I changed the plugs, checked all the coils and wires for tightness, adjusted the carb,  I also replaced the exhaust manifold gaskets because it was backfiring. runs perfect now!

I replaced my faulty Speedo with one I bought off eBay for $80. Because of the age of the bike the Mileage is exempt in TX so the odometer difference don't matter. The one I bought only had 14.3K mi on it and was pristine. There were many for sale on eBay at the time. The gauge face would be very difficult to change with out damaging the Speedo case since it's all crimped together. Newer models have MPH and KMH on the face.

Thnax guys, for your suggestions.
I'll check the key switch asap and will report it.

Also check all the fuses. I believe the spot lamps are run off the Auxiliary circuit.  If your switch is bad, I have a good one that I can send you for just the postage and cost to get a extra key made to include.
Let us know what you find.

Took the Drifter to a bike show this past weekend and won First Place for American Stock Motorcycle class???????
The judges pick the class and I wasn't around when they judged it. Must have talked to two dozen bikers that checked out the bike at the show and none of them had a clue it was a Kawasaki even with that big radiator in front?????

Mine has been heavily modified. The stock exhaust is gutted.
Everything outside the carb inlet was removed and I fabricated a plate to adapt and S&S Super teardrop Air cleaner kit with a Indian Gilroy cover. Removed the dual throttle cables and installed a Nash internal throttle.
Used a 6 Sigma Racing Jet kit that was ordered specifically for the mods. I only run 93 octane.
Runs great, picked up a big bump in power in mid to high RPM and very infrequent burping only when hot after a high speed long run off idle it may burp but not all the time and never cuts out. I have the carb adjusted about as good as its going to get. Not sure if the burp be totally eliminated without replacing with an aftermarket carb. But that gets much more involved.

The Kawasaki gaskets are hard to come by. Dealer has to order them. Kawasaki part # 11060-1680
I used the Harley Davidson #17048-98, all Harley dealers and Harley parts suppliers have these because they were used on millions of engines. Fit nice and tight.
Also local Auto parts store may have Felpro #60569 for a Honda Civic which will also work.
The HD and Felpro Gaskets are less than $10 a set.

Looking at possibly buying a used set of long shot exhaust system, but it is off a 800 classic just curious if they are interchangeable with the drifter. Pretty sure the engines are the same.  Also are new gaskets easy to find? Thanks

I went all the way with my 800. Full blown custom Indianized. I took it to an open house at our local Indian Dealer and had to explain to the folks that worked there it was a Kawasaki! They kept asking what year it was. Having a blast with it now! Always very positive comments even from the Indian and Harley owners.

I just installed the 465-1148B and it fit perfectly. Lowering the back 1" would be fine if you weigh less than 180 otherwise youll be bottoming out.
The progressive shock is nearly impossible to adjust once on the bike.

Ernest,
Hope you got the 800 running. I'm up in Montgomery near Conroe. All my pollution control and the airbox was removed and it has a S&S Air Cleaner Mounted, runs great without it.

I'm just curious about your local laws because here in Washington state unless the vehicle actually predates 1973 it has to have turn signals and our state patrol guys would know that it's a clone and not an original.  If you're lucky they only cite you with a Fix-It ticket.

Turn Signals are not required on a motorcycle for inspection in Texas. Need to use hand Signals

Looks awesome! Are the spots used as signal lights?

No, Spots are Repop Harley spots with Amber lenses. Turn signals are my arms! No turn Signals in the 40s!

Very nice job Tex.
Your pride in workmanship shines through on that iron horse.
The thing that caught my eye first was the air filter cover. Was that an easy conversion?
The last owner on my bike stripped the center stud that holds the cover on and am looking at replacing the housing.
Was going to go with OEM but now that I"ve seen yours.........well it's got me thinking.
R

the OEM airbox is removed, I fabbed a sheet metal backer that bolts to the OEM brackets and the 2003 Indian S&S air cleaner bolts to the backer. All the OEM air box and tubing and crap was removed and carb jetted. It backfires a bit on decel but that just adds to the subterfuge.

Yes I would like to know a little bit more about your paint set up.

I have a 3 car garage with a OH door into my shop. I cover the floor and walls with heavy plastic, opened the doors about 30" set a big ass fan on the floor blowing outside and opened the windows in the shop to get flow through. I have a Harbor Freight $10 HVLP gun that I have used the hell out of and I love it because it works with 6cfm @40psig where most need 12cfm requiring a huge compressor.

Well done, and like the tanks, what size are they, and in total? Did it make the bike top heavy? The dash is really cool also.

Not top heavy, tanks were on there when I bought it. PO welded studs to the frame to mount the tanks. I believe they are off a Fat Boy.

Major mods, Harley fat boy tanks, Harley headlight nacelle, Pahead buddy seat, Harley 45 dash with relocated ignition switch, vintage spot lights, Barron's nostalgia bars with internal throttle and wiring, vintage style switches. Panhead repop horn, S&S intake with 2003 Indian cover. Custom two tone paint and pin stripping. All work and paint done in my home shop.
Now if it ever stops raining here I can get some saddle time in!

My 800 was missing the knob when I got it. I found a piece of black plastic tubing from my sprinkler drip system fit nice and tight and I added a knurled SS screw on the end. Hasn't come out yet. Cost me nothing.
