Looking for the bracket/backrest/luggage rack seen in this photo. Not sure if this was an oem part or not. Will pay high dollar if somebody has one. Any leads or tips appreciated. Thank you!

I think I have one for a 1500 somewhere in my garage. Don't think it will fit an 800 though.

Oops sorry, I just re-read this. I think the tank might have to be from an 01-05 Drifter, not not sure about a non-Drifter tank though. Sorry for any confusion.

#4

Yep...my '99 1500 does the same thing!

Tks, Troll. I wasn't clear, I think. This particular service department puts nitrogen in them. I have no idea why.

What do you use for a pump. I've been looking online for a no-loss pump. There seem to be quite a few very pricey units.

Progressive Mini Gauge Pump, https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/progressive-mini-gauge-pump?gclid=Cj0KCQjw5PGFBhC2ARIsAIFIMNdQUe43BsJq2YM8OTikkWFmcgiah_hnHk5kaiJzacI7TL9CxpGeyQMaAoc9EALw_wcB  This is what is used for the rear shocks. Prices and brands vary, however this is the type to use.

Thanks for the update. I may need to get a set of these when completed.

What an A-hole! Sounds like you have it under control. :o

I raced MC in my youth....so just having a toe shifter is what I'm used to....I was constantly putting my heel on the heel shifter when lifting my left foot off the ground from a dead stop....not that my feet are that big (size 11), but it would have been better if the heel shifter was about 1" longer so that I had more room when putting my foot up on the floorboard...it just seemed like it was always in the way.

I agree with Troll, once you get used to it you'll never go back. If you think it's too short, you could always cut and weld an extension piece in.

by the way....anybody pick up on my hidden ignition key?

Since you mentioned it, yes it's cleverly hidden. It kinda blends in. It would totally disappear if you painted it black. I also noticed that you don't use a heel shift lever.  8)

Yes, I saw that. Good call on just taping it, no need to open it up.

Looks great OR Seedman, can't wait to see the finished project together and running! This is awesome!

Would you still have the tank badges for '99 1500 Drifter?
Thanks, Mike Brown

Miko, this is an old post over 3 years old and it was the only post by the OP. The tank badges turn up on ebay from time to time. Good luck!

Thanks for posting the detailed info on the modified exhaust project. As Marco said, I'm also interested in hearing how it sounds when it's completed.

I have the saddle bags <K53000-228>
backrest<K53020-320>
2-up seat<K53020-023>
Luggage rack<K53020-321>
Also the solo rack<K53020-323>
Struts<K53021-101>
Struts<K53021-98>
Saddlebag support.

With the struts I have 2 long ones and 2 very short ones with 3 holes in them.

I can't figure out how to put everything together.. I have looked at several pictures with them one the bikes, but can't figure out how everything goes......

HELP!!

Thanks

Try viewing this page. It shows solo and 2-up saddlebag strut mounting pics. It doesn't look like they used the very short 3 hole brackets for the solo seat. I've never used them either when running my solo seat and never had a clearance problem. https://www.vulcandrifterriders.com/oemsbsetup.html

will a 1500 front fender fit an 800?

Yes, the 1500 and 800 Drifters I am told,  share the same front end.

I'll bet that was interesting.  :o

Great job! Looks great as far as fitment, however it does make the Drifter rather odd looking. Hopefully you can locate a Drifter front fender at a decent price.

Well done and a great mod! Thanks Pete! ;)

At least one member has found an alternative...

"Motion Pro universal speedometer cable kit, part no. 061107. It's 50" long and comes with 3 different ends to choose from. Just measure, cut to length and install the correct end for your application."
Might try this one if you can't find a Drifter or Nomad cable.

For one, that would be me, :) and yes it's worked well so far. 8)  Great option!

thanks, Marco....how are you doing?  Things getting better over in your home area?

I think that was meant for "mittico68" Marco in Italy.
