It's been awhile that I've posted anything here and since I had to fix my Caddy lites on my bike with an improvement I thought I should be posting the video. https://youtu.be/ROXNTpDaoL0

At 10:24 into the video I cover the front fender removal if you're interested.
Since I bought my bike it sometimes grinds ( or ticks) when up shifting from first to second before the dogs have a chance to engage into 2nd gear. It doesn't do this between other gears. I was thinking this is because the clutch is not fully disengaging the gears which would make it a clutch issue as opposed to a gear or transmission issue, any thoughts?
Went for a 2 hour ride yesterday, looks like rain today.
Seen 6 osprey north of Rice Lake for anyone familiar with the area.
Do you call them by their acronyms? Your Mother in-law would love that!
Yep, we lived together for 2 years then went our separate ways. We visited her parents who were living in the Okanogan valley home of Ogopogo, same idea as The Locness monster.
Cobourg actually, I see you are from Kelowna, went out with a girl from there about 40 years ago when I lived in Edmonton.
Mine's been noisy since I've owned it, learned to live with it.
Is it just me or are there considerably fewer Drifters for sale than compared to 5 years ago?
I found my 1500 Drifter on Kijiji (in Canada) at which time there were approximately 6 in Ontario and more than a dozen in the Province of Quebec which is where I eventually found the one I presently own, I have been watching the resale market for Drifter 800's (in Canada) which I was hoping to buy someday in the future.
Presently in Kijiji , in all of Canada there are two 1500's and one 800 cc available up in Moose Jaw. There are none I could find in Auto Trader. Has anyone one else noticed the scarcity of resale Drifters lately? I notice there are more in the States than Canada but are they getting harder to find down there also?
I've had a 1500 for some time now and I can tell you why I finally decided to go with the 1500 over the 800 and it has nothing to do with the power issue as I have owned a 750 Honda that was just fine on the highways and was awesome in the city.
My reasons for choosing the 1500
1. The 1500 is fuel injected, no fiddling with or cleaning carbs,
2. Shaft drive, no adjusting or changing out chains,
3. Fuel gauge, really nice after so many years without one.
4. Self cancelling signals, just a little thing but again really nice not driving 2 miles with signal flashing because you forgot or didn't push the cancel switch hard enough.
5. No need to pull heads and set valve clearances on the 1500.
This is just me, I do my share of maintenance on vehicles (2 cars an ATV, snow blower, lawn mower and bike) I want to ride in my spare time. But I wish the 1500 had the mono shock like the 800, just looks more retro and I miss the nimbleness of the smaller bike size, 1500 is a little harder to maneuver in parking lots and such but probably not any more than a Valkyrie, probably less. 49 K is a few miles but not excessive if it was well maintained, I find the 1500 a little warm on the exhaust side of the bike in warmer weather but that could be the custom exhaust on my bike. Not the greatest braking system either but it's 20 years old.
If that is the case , the question is - how did air get into the system? You might want to check for leaks also.
After a 30-year hiatus from riding I started off on a 750 Honda Shadow (I ended on 750 Honda 30 years prior) which is a fine motorcycle but uninspired. I loved the look of Harley Davidson's styling but not their reliability. Also, I was trying to decide what type of biker was I, the long-distance tourer or the retro rider. As I was pondering my conundrum a friend told me about someone, he knew who was riding an older Japanese bike that looked like an Indian, I was intrigued, did some research and knew I had found my next ride.
One type of grass for the other!
I have used CBD oil from time to time for insomnia, great stuff and best of all you don't get high on it.
Just curious, the CBD is extracted from regular marijuana or is it from a special plant and a special distillation process?
That's quite the windshield on the Drifter, how is it on the highway?
How much oil are we talking? I think you should expect a little oil in there.
Sorry to hear that, I've seen you on FB but not this other dude, pretty low really. I still haven't used the back rack you sold me, might get to it this summer.
Moved to a new house a year ago, bike is 1.5 hours away at my brother's place. Still unpacking. Would like to get a larger windscreen to cut down on the turbulence. Also would like to find lowers that would fit on the Drifter. I was told by a fellow on FB that he had Nomad lowers that fit the fire and steel windshield but he couldn't tell me what part number or year his lowers were from.
Nice ride, just a little work and it will be ready.
I went with the Chucksters kit, here's a "how to" video I made.
You will also have to install a Power Commander 3 and have it dyno'ed so it runs optimally.
I believe Owen Forde is planning a memorial ride in Thessalon (between Sault Ste Marie and Sudbury) late spring early summer this year, low key. Date not yet known.
I'm planning on making front fork lowers to try and block the wind a little on the highway.
I'm up in Southern Ontario and am fortunate enough to have a spot in my brother's heated shop to store it. He has 4 other bikes in there. The Drifter is the most admired of all the Harleys and Honda's.
