I was planning to buy the first Polaris Indian Chief to be imported into Spain, a couple of months ago.

But then...when I saw them live I was dissapointed. Not by the bike itself, but by the bike/cost relation.

In Spain the Chieftain costs 27.000eur...that's 37.260USD !!!!!!!!!! That's lots of money.

Therefore I decided to wait a couple of years, and in the meanwhile I bought a used Victory Vision:

You can kill me if you want. But I like the new Indians a lot. I like the aspect, I like the engine, I like all the very positive oppinions of 100% of press articles.
That's the reason I will buy the first Chief that arrives to Spain....I know it's a lot of money (and even more here in Europe due to the import costs, VAT,aso, aso...) but sometimes you have to spend money with you heart instead of with your head. Next tuesday i will see the three models in person, and I'll have to decide which model and in which colour. As for today, the red chieftain is my choice...

Polaris did a greaty advertising job till now. If you want to buy a Chief right now in the USA, delivery date seems to be March 2014...and in Australis even more....In Spain there will be just 12 bikes for sale.
I will try to keep my Drifter (that has the Chief Vintage look) together with my Chieftain (if I finnally buy it).
I expect the bike to arrive mid-end November. Will keep u informed about my impressions...

Here in Spain we still enjoy summer weather....It's called the "Veranillo de san Miguel" (Small summer of Saint Michael). las sunday we were riding our bikes at 28ºC and a cloudless sky. This weekend although it will star raining, but with smooth temperatures  8)

Hmmmmm. Every day you learn new things. My speedometer lights only on it's upper side. Probably that means that I drive with one bulb burned out, since I bought the bike two and a hald years ago?  ::)

My bike has 47.251kms and didn`t have the valves checked yet. Engine is doing the typical rude noise, but valves are no singing....

Really nice bike and even nicer landscape...

General Discussion / Does anybody know Heathersleathers?
September 24, 2013, 02:11:51 AM

I've sent him a mail back in July, trying to find a improvement for my 2-up seat. He answered mid-august explaining that my email ended (he doesn´t know how) in his spam folder, soory for the delay, and told me the possible solutions.

I asked him again about got no answer from him. I've sent him since then 3 mails....

I even sent him a mail from a different direction (to avoid that strange spam filer), but no answer.

Is he ok?

I use Picasa. Works really well, it's free, you don't have to use their software, you can use any email address, not just a google one, it's free, it has 15 GBytes of storage, and did I mention, it's free..and they host videos, too. I'm pretty happy with it...

I also use Picassa !!!!!!!

Did u check at what strenght (1-7) you have adjusted your rear shock? I mean "ajustar precarga" in spanish.
With a 12' tube you can adjust it quite easy in 2min, and check if it happens at all settings!

Troll: Don't forget that there are two kinds of anti-thiefs devices:
The ones that are effective, and the ones that are TOO VISIBLE. We can talk about the best systems to lock the bike, but once is for sure: there is no 100% effective device.

If I leave a VERY VISIBLE chain on my bike, perhaps, the thief can choose to take the next bike, instead of mine... ;)

Wow, I never thought of it I guess.  I try not to leave it places I think it's that much of a problem, but I guess anything can happen about anywhere.  It only takes one crud-ball to think he wants it enough to risk it.

So the fork lock isn't enough???

Definetively not! I have heard about teenagers that are able to break the fork lock just with a short hit on the handling bars...I've never used that fork lock. I don't trust it, and here in Spain, you should ALWAYS leave your bike locked....
That's life...

All Drifter owners have the same problem...I will show you a picture with the solution a friend (another drifter owner from Madrid) and myself found....:

The front bike is my friend's bike, and the one behind is mine. The picture was taken some time ago in front of a Motorcycling bar in Santa Engracia street of Madrid....

Sure you can. The pictures were from last weekend trip to Avila, the walled city. I posted all the pictures of that trip in the post of "images of the spanish drifter"...

Regarding the issue of the oilfilter: Having the wrong oilfilter is a critical issue,or just a minor issue? I mean: shall I force the garage to change it into the right filter of shall I leave it as it is ?

#23

This is the Oilfilter for the 99-00 Drifters

http://www.hiflofiltro.com/catalogue/filter/HF303

And this is the one for the newer Drifters

http://www.hiflofiltro.com/catalogue/filter/HF204

This last filter has been installed on my bike...

#24

I've just returned from my 45.000 service. My Garage is not using original Kawa oilfilter, but an aftermarket one. Curiously, there are two different filters. The first one for the 99-00 Drifter C, the second one for the newer Drifters.
The only differenve is that the first filer is 1cm longer than the second. Diameter is the same (obvious), but the filter is 1cm longer.
The garage has installed in my bike the second filter, although my bike is a C from 99.

Have you heard about this before? And should make them change the filter into the first one, or that ridiculous differenve in size will not affect me in any way. I change oil and oilfilter each 5000/6000kms...

Thanks in advance....
