Title: Antique/classic tires
Post by: vf24renegade on July 09, 2011, 20:52:36 PM
Has anyone tried putting classic tires like Coker offers ont their Drifter?
I have a 2000 800 and would like to try and get the classic look of the Super Chief.
I was mostly wondering if the larger sidewall for that look would prove detrimental.
Thanks

There are several wide white wall choices available. My bike isn't a show bike but I
do like the WWW look... so I stick with www using modern tech and the correct size. I 'm very particular about my bike tires!

I went with Metzeler 880's. They so far ( 3000 mi ) are great. They have the large ww, I love the look . The only drawback is keeping the back tire clean because of chain lube. Takes me 15ft to clean a spot, move it ahead , clean .....

I picked up a Craftsman Bike/ATV lift last year.  I just raise the bike in the air to clean the tires, makes quick work out of it.

Thanks for the advice. My ATV lift is a pain . The pads contact the grease fittings at the balance point. Did you modify yours ?
