Title: AIR FILTER QUESTION
Post by: rawv on July 02, 2011, 13:27:57 PM
After speaking online with a gentleman from N.J. we both swapped pics of each others bike 99 1500 Drifters..after looking at mine he asked me what the chrome cover was on the left side of the motor and I said it was an air filter cover in which I have on both sides ..after looking at his he was right he didnt have a cover on it.. so my question is does anyone else know of this differance and why I'm curious now.....     Thanks  Rick

For a better airflow and performance some people relocate the airfilter to the right side. Standard air is coming into it through a fairly small tube (which is inhaling heated air from between the cylinders), runs through the filter then through another plastic tube (a warm one) that runs between the jugs and over to the right side of the bike...then the air makes a turn and finally gets into your carb or throttle body.
