Title: removing rear fender off my 800
Post by: Indian Drifter on June 14, 2011, 22:52:29 PM
OK I'm removing the rear fender... Are there any electrical plugs to disconnect  in order to remove the lighting?? Or do I have to cut wires??

Don't know, but I suspect there are some... maybe in the light buckets themselves or under the seat??? Don't have an 800!

The main wire from the fender goes into a box under the seat ... pull the connector out of the box and disconnect

Remove the six bolts on the fender and take off ..

Can be done in 5 mins without removing the seat ..

5 minutes is a good estimate until you come to the long lower bolt that's difficult to get out because the exhaust is in the way. Then it takes considerably longer.

I would recommend shortening the bold by the exhaust once you get it out.  Mad my life a lot easier.

Hello All........I just had my rear fender off...only takes a few minutes....It'll be faster next time as I notch cut the bracket behind the muffler, so now i just
have to undo the bolt a little instead of removing it... Works for me....KEN.
