The KTM 390 Adventure R dual-sport is updated for 2025 to be the more off-road-focused version of the platform compared to the 390 Adventure X. Both are powered by the liquid-cooled 399cc LC4c Single also found in the 390 Enduro R, 390 Duke, RC 390, and 390 SMC R. To make the 390 Adventure R ready to tackle more trails and terrain, KTM updated the bike with increased suspension travel at both ends, larger front and rear wheels, more suspension adjustability, a Rain ride mode, and cornering sensitivity for ABS and traction control.
To test this dual-sport's capabilities, we headed to Mammoth Lakes, California, in the eastern Sierra Nevada, riding in a variety of road and trail conditions. After a full day of riding, we were impressed with the 390 Adventure R's versatility: It offered dirt-ready playfulness matched with composed road manners and long-distance possibilities.
