Title: Warning - Non OEM Ignition switch from
Post by: drifter-paul on August 17, 2024, 01:44:20 AM
Replacement Ignition switch from hotsaleshop-07 (China) - A$70 v A$400 local dealer

This is a 5 wire (3 position) Ignition key with a resistor. The resistor is detected by the ECU/ICU and a current is then sent to the fuel pump. If the resistance is not detected, the ECU thinks the motorcycle is being hot-wired(stolen) and will not send current to the fuel pump. The supplied item allows the starter motor to engage, BUT would not prime the fuel pump i.e. to start. The Grey wire was connected to the west end of the resistor, should be East, see photos - Now starts after re-solder - 2 technical men * 2hrs.

I have raised this issue with Ebay and the Seller . Will advise progress with Seller

MY REPLY
I will be gracious and assume your 1st reply was AI generated . This offer is NOT acceptable . Please get a human to read my correspondence . The unit failed Quality Control . IT IS MISWIRED - it will never work for any customer who buys this batch in this wiring format (Grey to left side of resistor instead of right). I have taken the courtesy of sending you photographs and a detailed description of this QC lapse to enable you to redeem your reputation by remediating this lapse . I have alerted USA, UK, German, Netherlands, Canada, Spain , Holland , Sweden, Romania & New Zealand fellow-owners of these Kawasaki motorcycles that I am awaiting your response . Thank You

THEN
I got an exact repeat of their 1st reply . Waiting for Ebay response

That's the price to pay, when you try to bypass the OEM sellers by taking the cheap chinese way...  ;D

Thanks for the info.
I looked at these on eBay, glad I didn't bother now.
Was gonna try the old style, centrally mounted Harley switch on the dash but wiring not my strong point, especially if resistors, ecu signals involved etc.

I did the ignition switch relocation mod (here on this Forum there's a good writeup of the whole process).
It took me a few hours of job and, most of all, several days of trial and efforts until I finally found the right resistor...
But I'm really happy for the results: I don't have to bend my poor back anymore, when I need to start the engine!  8) ;)
