Just a quick question because I am baffled. I purchased a tan Corbin solo seat for my 1500. It came right off of another 1500 and I have spent the better part of an hour trying to get it on but the seat attachment brackets just miss by a quarter of an inch which is like a hundred miles. I pushed and pulled but can't seem to get them to line up. I know Chief you have a 2 up Corbin and Troll you have the solo so could either of you give me some guidance. Does the front mounting washer have to be lowered or removed to accomodate the Corbin?

My double, way back in 2002 had a flat bar for the front instead of the horse shoe shaped bit on OEM solo's etc.
Supposedly you were supposed to install the corbin with that bar going under the "washer" deal on the bike... sorta use a scoop motion to get the seat bar under the washer. I could never get it to go in correctly... too far back, so I ground off a bit of the rear part of the washer/spacer so it would fit better and go on easier. It was hard getting the bolts in at the rear at first, but it got easier. Falls right into place now.
Mine had a plastic shield in the seat area between the seat and the rear fender. That has to be removed if its still on yours.
Chief this does have that bar going across I will give it a try again and see if it will go under that washer as you recomend. If not I will do as you did and gring some away. As I said it is off by about a 1/4 of an inch. I will let you know how it goes.

I just spent over two hours in the garage trying to mount this seat with the same issue....
I think I'm going to try modifying the flat bar instead (I can easily make a new one if it fails) I'll try and remember to update.
Take your handy dandy 12mm socket wrench, back out the front seat mount bolt, put some washers between the bottom bushing and the frame, be sure you have enough thread left..."J" frames and "R" frames are just a little different. When I had a "J" seat on my "R" I had to do this...
I had to bend the washer and grind some off in order to get mine anywhere near close. I then found that I had to loosely attached the LHS bolt to the seat mount first then the RHS otherwise it would not go on. Yes I know this ordering sounds stupid but it seems to work, I can never get the seat on in the reverse bolt order. I can now get the seat on and off easily.
I ended up grinding a little bit of the washer out. building a spacer for the rubber bumpers and the KEY was...

grinding a little bit of the washer... Is this the washer at the rear of the instrument panel where the seat mounts??

I'm getting ready to take my 2-up off soon, and I don't know how easily it fits yet, but wanted to be ready... ;D
