Post by: basilbug on November 16, 2020, 21:08:11 PM
I have the saddle bags <K53000-228>
backrest<K53020-320>
2-up seat<K53020-023>
Luggage rack<K53020-321>
Also the solo rack<K53020-323>
Struts<K53021-101>
Struts<K53021-98>
Saddlebag support.

With the struts I have 2 long ones and 2 very short ones with 3 holes in them.

I can't figure out how to put everything together.. I have looked at several pictures with them one the bikes, but can't figure out how everything goes......

HELP!!

Thanks

The short ones are spacers that go between the long brackets and the bike's frame. Sorry, I don't currently have a picture of it.

Try viewing this page. It shows solo and 2-up saddlebag strut mounting pics. It doesn't look like they used the very short 3 hole brackets for the solo seat. I've never used them either when running my solo seat and never had a clearance problem. https://www.vulcandrifterriders.com/oemsbsetup.html

Ok, that helps, but they are a unique shape and still not sure of the orientation..

They will line up with the holes in the long struts, only one way. Not the best pic I have, but this should help:

I want to do the 2-up seat. Hard to tell if those pics are using the short struts or not. Wander what they are for??

Ok, thanks. Are the short struts only made for the 2-up seating?

I have been using them with both the 2 up seat and with the solo seat. there is no valid reason not to. You need to space the bags out enough to clear the shocks.

I use them with both the solo and the 2-up seat as well.  I also use EZ Brackets on them so I can easily remove the bags anytime I want.  The EZ Brackets for the Vulcan 800 Classic are the correct ones to use on these bag mount brackets.  The mounting holes are exactly 6 inches apart center to center...EZ Brackets give enough spacing to clear the shocks with bigger bags and work well....I have sets for both color schemes...tan and black.  to me, they were well worth the $125 I paid for each set.  They are just kind of a pain to mount the bags on...once they are attached to each bag, you won't want to take them off....I even have a carrying strap the connects both bags to one handle so you can carry them in like luggage...

It's a tight squeeze to get the grab bar over the third holes on the brackets....that's why I leave it off...plus I can't use it with my backrest/rear rack set up anyway
