My 1500 Drifter set for @ 6 months. Went to start it and fuel pump doesn't start up. Cranks good. Put new battery in and cranks hard. Lights all work. Bike is in neutral with clutch in or out no difference. Any suggestions? Thanks
Do you have an aftermarket ign switch installed? The fuel pump will not turn on if the signal to the #25 (shows "unused" in the diagrams) is not correct. This prevents hot wire thefts. There should be power at the fuel pump connector on key up. The ECM grounds the other side of the pump to make it run. Once you determine which wire is which ( I don't have a j wiring diagram), then ground the non B+ wire with the key on, and the pump should run
No sir it has the stock ignition. The pump always started up when I turned the key on. I was going to give it to my Nephew as a gift when he returns this October from a year in Turkey. He is USAF. Dealer here won't work on anything older than 10 years.
the fuel pump harness has a two wire connector under the speedo cover. The other harness is for the fuel gauge. Find out which wire is B+ (hot) and then, with the connector still connected, ground the other wire. The pump should turn on and run constantly until the power is shut off. The ECM grounds the pump like this during key on to prime the system, and then supplies constant ground when you are running the engine.
You can eliminate a bunch of things by running an ECU diagnostic.

I also have pretty much the same problem, I hit a bump and my 99 drifter just dies, all lites and such come on but no spark, turns over fine till battery dies. charged up battery and it started up but didn't dare take it anywhere. Someone said that could be a battery problem so replaced the battery and now it turns over but no spark. Can hear fuel pump start, any ideas. Hope Im posting in the right spot
