Title: Need clutch help
Post by: LightEagle on April 13, 2011, 16:24:29 PM
I have a '99 1500 with 36000 miles on it.  Traced noises to clutch, ordered and received, Barrnet Clutch plates and OEM springs etc.  Tore it down by the book, replaced parts, checked back often, and result is spins and no engagemenmt.  Tore down again, checked book, thought we found problem, put back together, and this time it is impossible to pull the clutch lever.  Ready to tear down again, but wanted to see if we could get any tips, etc.

Call anytime if you want., 210-870-4404

The arrangement of the washers when replacing the spring is crucial.  The order is in step 14, but you may find this whole article helpful, so here it is: http://www.gadgetjq.com/clutch_spring_replacement.htm (http://www.gadgetjq.com/clutch_spring_replacement.htm)  I followed that to the letter a couple of summers ago and it worked out great.  Hope this helps!

Thanks for all the help.  Finally got everything together and it is great.  Problem was we were following 2004 diagram and parts list, so had the extra spring holder which was causing the problem.  Also rebuild the master cylinder, really needed it.

Ahhh, yes, the two piece holder.  Forgot to mention that change.
