Title: Picked up ANOTHER Drifter!
Post by: warthog74 on June 01, 2018, 22:42:49 PM
So last fall i picked up a 1999 1500. Last week i came across a 2001 1500 and snatched it up. Only 16,000 miles on it from the original owner. All the leather work on it she custom made by herself (other than the saddle bags). I'm pretty stoked. Here's a few pics.

Cheers.

Yep, nice find indeed...nice clean look! It even has the very hard to find solo seat rail.

So now, you're spoiled for choice...  ;)

Nice pair! Loos like it has been lowered in the rear. Those bags are awesome. That was a good deal too.

Thanks. Yeah it's been lowered 2" in the rear, and the bags are actual Indian saddle bags. She said she paid a fortune for them. Oh, and the tires were just installed this spring. I got one heck of a deal for sure.  ;D

Can someone tell a poor dumb European what those early seat-rails were for on '40s / '50s bikes?

My thoughts were that they were just decorative -- they look cool --  but someone else may have more info.

Perhaps a tie down rail?
