Title: Latest Drifter Mods
Post by: RockinRollin on April 03, 2018, 13:39:11 PM
First we powder coated the crash bars matte black, then we (Bob) Fabed inserts for the roll bars and finished off the custom valve cover accents. Also custom valve cover accents. One more job to be done, making or buying lowers for front forks. That should get me out of the wind!

Good lookin' bike and nice work on all. Did you fabricate the engine guards? The valve cover accents will look sweet. Are you going to use adhesive to install them?

Great lookin' bike, RockinRollin!
That crashbar is way different from all seen on the market. It really compliments the bike: but why not make it a bit more rounded at its side ends? This way, it could be more vintage styled!

Moto can we get a close up of the lowers and a picture of how you mounted them?

Also curious how the valve cover accents will be installed.

Left side cover will have to wait for now, really busy at work. Hoping to get back to it this summer, I will have to sneak it into the  "Honey do list" on the new house. I think I need to find the screws that hold it to the engine, the rubber spacers were there but not the extended screws ( part 92151) have to order them if I can! It was powder coated black as you see in the picture. My brother made some lowers for the forks that I don't like so much so it's back to the drawing board for them. I'm thinking maybe plexiglass?

The roll bars are different from any other I have seen, more narrow.

I think you'll need another stator cover too, the one that accepts the cover. I think there is a couple of holes that are threaded that the 99/00 stator cover doesn't have.

Didn't realize that , will have to investigate further. After careful study of the parts lists for 2000 and 2001 the stator outer and inner covers are different but could one change just the outer cover and is it necessary to have all the bolt holes? I noticed just one extra hole in the 2001 cover? Could also be they won't line up but this may be a project for next winter. ::)
