Title: Coolant filling?
Post by: sumgnuguy on February 14, 2018, 20:26:22 PM
Please excuse my ignorance, but have some questions. I only have experience with air cooled bikes, so the liquid cooled is new to me.
I am wondering about refilling the coolant. I emptied everything including reservoir.
I refilled the res to the line....easy peasy.
I poured coolant into the rad mouth under the fuel tank, slowly as told.

Now here I am reading/hearing about water pump bleed bolt and radiator bleed cap....where are these or is that guide for a 1500?

Plus am trying to be sure there is no air pockets, so I turned on the bike with the rad cap off as multiple vids say to do and I get coolant spouting out of the rad mouth like a fountain.
I did this twice thinking it was expelling air, but have come here now as I am tired off wiping up coolant.
The service manual just says refill slowly, cap on and done with it....
Thanks!

Also once you feel that the rad is filled and done then check at the overflow tube and see where it is sitting......
