Title: New Drifter owner
Post by: freebrd1230 on August 02, 2017, 18:57:19 PM
Hello Everyone,

I just bought a 1999 1500 Drifter. The color is flat black but it has no bags and I am having a hard time finding some. The other is how to mount them. I also want some sort of read seat and back rest.

I have been riding for about 12 years and the last bike I had was an 800 vulcan custom.

Thanks
Freebrd

posted the pics and my response in the 1500 discussion segment.  I am also making a rear rack with a removable back rest that attaches to the saddlebag mounts.  It has adjustable height settings and the back rest mount can move frontwards and backwards up to 3 inches for optimum placement.  the one I have made is for the 800 model (which have).  I am still waiting for some specific measurements so I can make the correct one for the 1500 model.  I need the exact distance between the mounting points under the seat (outside edge to outside edge) so I can get the correct distance to attache the rear rack to the upper holes on the saddlebag mounts. I have attached pictures of the one on my bike.  I just got a new Mustang backrest pad and it looks really good with the rack and bags, but I don't have it on the bike right now.  the pictures have a really crappy Chinese pad I got for $15 just to see how it would work.  anyway, the rack will be $100 and the backrest mount without the pad (you can mount virtually any pad to it, so you need to get your own) will be $45 with hardware.  total package for saddlebag mounts, rear rack and backrest mount will be $230 plus ups ground shipping ($15 savings over individual pricing).  As soon as I get the necessary measurements, I can start making the ones for the 1500....

Welcome Freebrd to the forum -- nice looking Drifter you got there.   Did you actually buy that at a Polaris dealer???   Should have kidded them about the Polaris Indian being a "Drifter Tribute" bike, LOL...   ;D
