On my99 1500 have straight pipes. I found a set of original from a 2002 classic with the bladder Is there any way to take the bladder off or is the mounts for the classic and the drifter the same. I do not not want to purchase it if it will not work.I will still have to find a right side passenger pillion bracket.
Compare the microfiche on this site www.ronayers.com\oemparts
Looking at them i would say the brackets are different.
The empty goat bladder is bog ugly and serves no purpose except for California where it has an internal cat to reduce emissions .
So people have removed it and fabbed up joiner pipes, but I imagine that was only so they could keep the original "fishtail" muffler look.
IMHO you'll get more success unscrambling an egg ;D
Thanks just do not understand another area of VDR that says to get rid of orig, DRIFTER system just put on Classic system with foot peg system of same year. The longshots are loud and the police are clamping down on us here in British Columbia Canada .I can get the Classic system for 200 (150) your money so am going to go for it. I will still need the right foot peg bracket. Any more info. is appreciated.
I think that reference is to slingshots and aftermarket pipes for the Classis being useable if you get the Classic (R) mount. Pipes can be a pain, It took me a lot of work to fit Nomad Duals to my '99 Drifter.
Of course, I may be wrong, give us an update when they arrive.
Thanks.
Classic pipes will work on the Drifter with the proper hangers. In theory, the OEM should also work. The goat bladder can be removed on the OEM drifter pipes, so I assume you could do the same with the classic pipes - though I don't know if they are the same design.

I am using V&H pro pipe from a classic on my 99 1500. I just had to swap RS passenger peg mount to one from a classic to do it. Plus it also has the rubber mount, which cuts vibes a bit.
