I have decided to go with a exhaust system thats not so loud on the bike. The PO has fishtails that are stright pipe and are very loud. I have to leave for work at 3am and really dodnt want neighbors getting to pissed over time at me. I need suggestions on something louder then stock but not as loud as now. Also since carb work was already done do not want to have to rejet again. Hard chrome seems to be a nice set of pipes with baffles in. Any thoughts?
Well just did some reading on here about the hard chrome pipes and they seem to be a bad option for me, so now time to look in the road house deal.
Your situation sounds a lot like mine when I first bought my bike. you can buy virtually any diameter baffles you need on fleabay. They are not expensive I think I paid $16 for a pair and then I bought the wrap for the baffles for another $15. Currently I'm running one long and one short baffle in each of my pipes and it's just right (that's right I have stacked them one behind the other and you just need to drill one hole for a screw retainer through the wall of the pipe). I also have had my carb rejetted and I have a K&N air filter so I don't want to mess with that either.
My fishtails are one piece welded to stock header pipes, i would have to cut off the ends to install baffles but it does seem to be the cheapest and quickest way to resolve issue, just have to slant cut pipes.
And if you really want the fish tails again you could buy slip ons you know and they are not too expensive well they are about a hundred and something dollars for a pair. That's what I ended up doing
