Title: My vn1500 hates me
Post by: James0561 on April 13, 2017, 18:00:21 PM
So i tried startinh my bike this morning.  I got 2 good strong cranks and lost all power.  I have no clock, no headlight, no tail lights.  My motorcycle acts as if theres no key in the ignition.  Ive checked all fuses,  the battery is brand new (even jumper cables fid nothing), I've pulled the keyed ignition switch off and it tests good with a multimeter.  Now im stuvk.  Does anybofy have any ideas?

Did you check the main fuse above the starter solenoid? I think it is a 30A fuse. When it blows you lose all power. It's behind the coolant tank in rt. side cover.

FYI  - There is also a "Vehicle down" switch under the seat (cube shaped  about 1" x 1" x 1"), held in place by the tank bolt (or the battery brace). If the m/c goes over, you need to turn the ignition key off, wait a few seconds, and then turn the ignition on; and of course secure it back in place, when you put a new battery in or remove the tank.  :)

Retighten your battery cable bolts. Check the "new" battery with a volt meter... an open internal cell connector will do exactly what you describe. There have been reports of some older build Yuasa batteries doing just what you describe. Just because it's new on the shelf doesn't mean it's new build
