Title: Saddlebags for 1500
Post by: tfloyd on October 01, 2009, 10:30:20 AM
Ladies & Gentlemen,

I got a great deal on a set of Ranger II bags that I couldn't pass up, but now I must buy the hardware.  I know that I need:

Part K53021-101, Mounting Strut Chrome

What I don't know is what else I need.  On the buykawasaki.com site, it mentions "Saddlebag support loops (K53021-099 or 102) are required for saddlebag mounting."

1) Does anyone know where to find these support loops (K53021-102) in chrome?
2) Do I need anything else to mount these bags?

Thanks in advance,

Todd

We may have some loops. I'll have a look and let you know.

Cheers.

Chief,

I found some support loops (K53021-102) on the rickrouse site, which is now accessories4bikes.com.  They have them priced at $27.28, but do you know if that is for a single side or both sides?  I need them ASAP, but don't know if I should buy 1 or 2 and it doesn't tell.

Thanks again.

That sounds like a single price.  If you have to specify right or left when ordering that would be a big tipoff.

Also, I saw a set of struts on EvilBay the other day.  Those might save you a buck or two?

I believe that's single. I'd buy 2 ... not that much money involved. If it ends up being doubles, let me know and I'll buy the extra from you.

I don't think there is a right/left... you just reverse them from side to side.

Cheers.

Would you list the parts (pn's) and sources? that may help others.

Cheers.

For a 1500,

Part #s:

K53021-101, Mounting Strut Chrome (K53021-098 = Black Strut)
K53021-102, Support Loop Chrome (K53021-099 = Black Loop)

I was able to find the mounting strut through Vista @ http://www.kawasakivista.com/accessories/index.php?page=touring1500r

However, the support loop proved to be quite tricky.  The support loops are no longer produced and I couldn't find any after market manufacturers...I was lucky enough to find a set on eBay.

Total Costs (exc. shipping)
Mounting struts =   $180.95
Support Loops =     $ 80.43
Saddlebags(used) =$150.00
                            $411.38

If someone needed to, they could always get the chrome loops and have them powdercoated black (or any other color for that matter).

And, of course, the loops are covered by the bags when they are on the bike.

Cheers.
