Title: 99 Drifter Front Brake Rotor
Post by: thenemos on July 31, 2016, 19:13:20 PM
I looked at the cross reference list provided on this forum and didn't find what I was looking for.  I want to change the solid front brake rotor for one that has better cooling characteristics (i.e. on that has holes drilled into it, like the Classic).

Does anyone know what model(s) has a front brake rotor that is interchangeable with my 99' VN1500J?

I guess you would want to buy two or three aftermarket for the OEM price of only one. Sell the original when it still has meat on the bone.

The part number for the original is: 41080-0060-CM
Google requires only: "VN1500 Drifter" and Brake Disk.
Inside and outside diameter are shown to be 130 and 300. The disk is 5.8 - 6.2 mm thick with a minimum of 5,5 mm. The rear disk is thicker: 6.8 - 7.2 mm and has a service limit of 6,0 millimeter.

I think finding the 6 mm disk is a difficulty. The ones I see are all 5.

On the forum the VN1500 Classic rotor is found to be interchangeable.
Its specifications of the 1999 F2 part number: 41080-1416-CM call for the same:

Front 5.8 ∼ 6.2 mm (0.228 inch ∼ 0.244 inch) minimum 5.5 mm (0.217 inch)
Rear 6.8 ∼ 7.2 mm (0.268 inch ∼ 0.283 inch) minimum 6.0 mm (0.236 inch)

Order the VN1500 F2 1999 original or do check before you buy!
