Looking to put aftermarket pipes on my 800 Indian Drifter...any suggestions?
Look in the accessories area of the web site under exhaust... you will find some help there.
Thanx Chief!!!! \m/(*!*)\m/
If you don't find what you want there, give me a yell and I'll do some more research. I'm still collecting info on the 800.
Cobra made a really good looking "Indian" look-alike set for the 800. Alas, they are no longer in production. I would love to hook up with one of them, of course it would have to be quiet or near-stock quiet to be usable. Loud pipes don't save lives....they only make noise!!
You can still find a set of the cobra 2-1's on occasion. They had cracking problems... which isn't surprising since they are hard mounted. All drifter specific pipes currently are hard mounted. You need to fab a hanger that converts them to rubber mounts. On the 1500, we use classic rear foot peg and either classic pipes or fab a hanger that uses the rubber mounting of the classic peg.
Hard mounting pipes to a rubber mounted engine guarantees increased vibration and possible damage to the system.
Good points chief. It just makes "sense" that hard-mounting to a rubber-mounted engine will cause problems. If you see a Cobra 2 into 1 set hook me up! I'll make it work. Mike in TX
will do. Apparently Denny Berg gave/raffled a set at the last Drift-In!
