Well guys, I am probably going to take some heat for this, but I've cut as many corners as I possibly can, tried every which way to avoid this but with 2 year old twin boys about to start school I am in all likelihood going to sell my drifter... I know I know after all that hard work and all the questions and answers and late nights doing mods it's a sad day...
Too bad... but I understand your point of view.

But don't worry, maybe you'll be able to hound for another Drifter, soon or later...
Life's priorities take precedent for all of us.
I recently found myself in a similar situation. You never know what the future holds, but you have to do what's right for you and yours first.
1991..sold my Harley to buy diapers...never looked back. 2012 bought my first Drifter. Got to get your priorities in line.
So how many diapers did you actually get for an HD? ;D
I sold my first HD to pay for my first son... sold my corvette for the second... didn't have anything left to sell for the third...
Believe me, you WILL regret selling it. You will miss it, you will dream about it, you will wish you had it every sunny day and warm summer night. You will hear one in the distance and look for it. You will boast to whomever will listen that you USED to have one. (like that commercial where the grandpa says he thought about buying one but got siding instead!)
But, sometimes you have to do what you have to do.
My condolences and I'm glad it's you and not me!! 8) Don't be a stranger in any event. We will happily share our riding stories with you.

FAMILY FIRST. Toys when you can. You got one smooth and clean ride and any owner would be lucky to buy it. I've been getting a ear full from my wife since I bought another bike (my Drifter) last year after selling sport bike. Now my Wife and 3 kids want a Sea Doo for our nearby lakes. I am considering selling mine to and may test the waters if I can get out close to what's in it which it way too much and buying a 1500 for alternate comparison as my future project down the road when wife is happy and kids grown up or I can afford it. One rule in our household no loans on toys. All my extra cash goes into Drifter mods.......

I've been avoiding my post and haven't read it till today. Thanks for the good laugh guys. That diaper stuff is hilarious. So guys with the mods I have what's a reasonable price to list this? 27k Lexus starfire pearl white paint job, hard krome pipes, custom seat etc etc lots of you know my bike...
put an ad on Craigslist with a picture of the bike, your twins and explain you need to put them through school and this is your only asset and so you need, $$$$$.$$ and go from there.
You know you will never get back what you paid for it, so if possible look for all the Drifters in your area that are close to the same mods, same miles as yours and use those prices as a base, then the buyers will have to decided on what is the best for them, if you overprice it it will never sell, but you can tell the wife it is listed but good gosh it is just not selling......

Yup, understood, completely..... I sold my treasured bike just before my son was born... It only took many, many years before I bought another. A slippery slope.... indeed.
Do what you have to do...you'll be back. Sold my bike when my son was born in 1990.....came back 5 years ago....it's all good.

Sold my bike in the early 80s due to all the normal reasons. Only started riding again a few years ago.

Wow, it really is amazing how many of us followed a similar pathway... That about lines up with my timeframe too.
