Ok guys I need help!
Pulled the carb off my wife's 800 drifter to clean and during the disassembly managed to break the boss for the float pin. UGH!
It seems the Drifter Carb is not the same as the Vulcan carb and is not available for purchase. ( Vulcan carb has no TPS )
I have tried salvage with no luck. I have no problem replacing the carb with a different model but lack this knowledge.
Any help would be appreciated.

I know nothing about the carbs as I have never had to mess with mine......GB or Troll needed here......
How did you try to fix the broken boss? The TPS controls the signal to the electronic spark advance..it will run without it...NEED MORE INFORMATION!!!!!

The clearance in the carb bowel is pretty close so I drilled and placed a roll pin in the boss. I believe the float support is working properly now. (believe being used very loosely)
I noticed fuel leaking from the bike the other day and assumed (yes I know what that means) it was from the carb as that was what I had been screwing around with. In the mean time i have discovered a leaking petcock on the fuel tank and am currently awaiting parts for that. Im not sure the carb fix is permanent so I would consider another carb. I have found the Drifter carbs to be somewhat rare so that is where I am at.

ok, so the float pin is secure...if it was me,I'd get an 800 carb body and look if I could mod it to accept the tps...
Yep been looking at photos just haven't decided to spent 250.00 to test a thought.

what part exactly, got broken? Can it be welded? The Carb body is aluminum

which part of the carb received the damage?? Am I remembering right that the float pin resides in the bowl, at the bottom of the carb? (it's been a couple of years since I've had mine apart). If so, is that part interchangeable with the Vulcan Classic 800? (( never mind, I found a pic and see the float sits in the main part of the body))...
One more thought- they make fuel tank repair kits which include epoxy that is supposed to be gasoline resistant. This might work for a temporary fix until you find something permanent.
You might contact Keihin to see if they sell replacement bodies... I don't have high hopes there but maybe.
UPDATE
OK so after harassing the parts guy at a local store he called about the back ordered carb and found they are not really back ordered but take 30 days to fulfill. ;)
In the meantime I fiddled with my "wifes" broken carb till it was running pretty good. :D
Received the new carb and installed it and the bike runs like crap. No power popping and lethargic. ???
After much troubleshooting, carb, plugs, coils, stator I found a bad plug. Ugh!
Finally the bike runs great and no more dirty looks from the wife when I ride my bike :D.

Yup must be hard that at one point you had a really cool ride, then your wife gets involved, and willing to bet she is better looking than you and on an 800 she will be super cool, so now she will be garnering all the attention from people and you will be in the shadows now...........lol......
