Title: Amber Running/Fog lights
Post by: Diddly squatt on April 27, 2016, 17:04:03 PM
A DIY project for anyone that likes the classic look of amber running lights. I purchased a piece  (12X24) of automotive tint film on eBay for $1.99 and free shipping. It has a peel off backing. If your lens is not too curved you can apply it to the inside curvature of the lens. Heat from a hair dryer will allow it to be shaped.  I just laid it flat across the inside of the lens as it clears the bulb.

I bought a can of Krylon stained glass color for about $8. I took the bulbs out of the capsules, washed the inside with acetone and let it dry. Sprayed the color through the bulb opening and swished it round to coat everything. I did that about 4 years ago, and they have held up just fine for 50,000 miles...

I tried to find the Krylon  stained glass paint (Hobby Lobby,Michaels, & several other craft places) but no luck. I wonder if it is still being made or if a special order?

I got mine from a seller on eBay...couldn't find it locally, either...Support local business, they all say, but if I want something they don't have, or is priced stupidly high,(which is most of the time) I just can't.
