Title: Selling my 1500 Drifter
Post by: 99tango on April 21, 2016, 17:39:54 PM
A few months ago I locked up both brakes avoiding a deer. No spill, but certainly a wake up call. At an advanced age, I could only imagine the repercussions that could result from hitting that pavement. At this stage, I wouldn't want to hit the pavement at a walking pace, much less anything faster. As much fun as I've had these last several years, I have no intention of pressing my luck any further. I'm wussing out guys, at 73, I'm slowing it down.

I've discussed a couple issues with my Drifter that turned out to be non issues. She's a noisy critter, but having ridden a comparable 1500 and listened to a few others, it's just the way it is. The deceleration head shake may develop with no hands on the bars, but as long as one or both hands are on the bars, it won't happen. I figure the front tire will safely roll another 3,000 miles or so. The rear tire is nearly new, I believe a Dunlop. Everything else about my Drifter is great. Low center of gravity, shifts perfectly, everything works like new.

I'm posting the Craigslist ad here on the Drifter classifieds, which I see isn't very popular or visited often, but what the heck, nothing gained, nothing lost.

Enjoyed my Drifter, but time to say good bye. And to all you Drifter Forum members, thanks for all your input and help.

Joe

redfish, sorry to hear that you are selling your Drifter. I know that you must have enjoyed your Drifter, however you know when it's time to get off of two wheels. We all will have to make the same decision some day. At least you can sit in your recliner and know you've had a good run, enjoy the memories. Good luck.

Sorry, like the rest, to see you sell, but I understand there is a time and a place....  I wish I had the money to start collecting more Drifters, I'd be in the market for this one!  Someone will get a nice one!

There is a season for all phases of life.  We make choices as we progress along that path.  Good luck, Joe!
