Title: New bike
Post by: dfwdrifter on April 16, 2016, 16:26:51 PM
I just bought my first drifter, it's a 2000 drifter 1500 and I cannot wait to get it all cleaned up and go for a ride.

Well, ride...long ride...first.

Wow you hit the jackpot!
That puppy is loaded with good stuff.
Everything is perfect... except for the Hypercharger  :o

An easy fix if you want to go vintage style to match the rest of the bike.
Hopefully it has an electronic fuel control to work with the new intake and exhaust system.

Beautiful bike with all the extras and a cool custom paint job!   8)
I am envious!  ;)

Well done, it's a beauty!
Aftermarket stuff for our Drifters is way hard to find, most of all if black!!
Welcome aboard.

It has a K&N commander 2 on it as well for the exhaust and hyper charger.

It needs at the least a front tire, my GF offered to buy me a set as a gift on the way home from buying it and I'm thinking white walls, any suggestions on brand?

The paint is stock except for the hand painted design down the middle of the tank and fenders and the feather on the battery cover.

When I bought mine I replaced both tires. I chose non-white walls (wouldn't fit the theme of my bike...would look good on yours tho) the Michelin Commander II's because of there longevity. I wouldn't buy them again. I found a slight wobble with them at 40mph. Put a little more pressure in them 35/40 and the wobble is gone, but rides a little rougher. My 2cents.

I've had a few different WWW's over the years (Metzler, Continental, etc.), and personally, the new Shinko 777's are really hard to beat!

Really nice bike BTW!

The pics I posted range from when the bags on it were new to current, most were taken by the last owner, if you look at the pics on the trailer and of me on it you can tell they have seen better days so I'm going to look into restoring the bags.

The bike has almost 32,000 miles and runs like a champ but by no means is she a new bike and will need some TLC over time but I'm sure it will be worthwhile.
