I bought a Venom lift stand for my 800 and have found a safe place to place it to raise the rear wheel off of the floor but I don't see a contact point to get the front wheel off of the floor. I assume it would not be a good idea to raise the bike by placing it under the cast engine crankcase. Those of you that use a center pivot stand, do you recommend a good location on the frame to get the front wheel off of the floor?
Ratman, I know you have one of these, do you ever use it for the front end? Appreciate any help and advise I can get. Mike
I have one and your right it can be a pain.........it is easy to use but not a lot of room were you can set it. I went to the auto wreckers and bought a scissor jack for $5.00, if I need to get the front wheel off the ground I use the Venom or one of the other 2 jacks and lift the bike and then under the front engine guard I use the scissor jack to lift the front end. Sad to say this was for me the easiest idea and way, and the safest. I have had my floor jack all the way to the top and this scissor jack on the front to keep the bike stable and steady.

I use this for the winter time and it will lift the front wheel off the ground but only so high. Again you will need a couple of pieces of 2x6x? to be able to slide the jack under the bike.
Thank you Ratman. I see that you put her on the pivot stand and then use another jack to raise the front wheel off the floor. That should work fine for me. Diddly Squatt has been lowered a couple of inches so not much space to maneuver a lift or stand under the frame. I can place the Venom under the bike in front of the rear tire and use a pivot point right in front of where the swing arm attaches. Thanks again, Mike
I find it next to impossible to get a motorcycle lift under mine with it on the floor. So, 3 pieces of 2x6(2x4will work but 2x6gives maneuvering room) about 16" long, 2of them tapered on one end, run the bike up on the tapered ones, the 3rd under the side stand, and plenty of room to maneuver the lift without fighting it. I also use the 2x6's when doing an oil change; easier to get to the filter and drain plug.
I hunted around a long time to find a lift, but none fit correctly. If I could afford a nice lift table that would fit in my living room I would buy it. It needs to also fit in with my decor.
But 49 is right a couple of 2x6's first and then the lift to get it up. If I am just doing a chain lubing, or cleaning the Venom stand is great, It will also work to do wheel cleaning on the front tire so no more moving up and down the driveway........
oil changes the Venom is great for that to.
But with your DS being lowered then you most likely need the 2x6's under it, and saw a slight angle to the ends to push the bike up on.....bingo.......

Good job. Looks like it works well. The side view looks like you nailed 2x4 pieces to build-up the size & shape that you wanted.
if it works that is great. Still bulky and you have that big side piece. But again you have to do what you have to do to make it work for you.......
Looks good for cleaning wheels and oiling chains....doesn't look high enough to get a wheel off...am I right?

the Venom will not let you remove the front tire, it will allow you to remove the rear tire if the fender comes off.
That's correct and I had no problems removing the front tire with this wooden lift. I added 2 more pieces than the video

I put DS up on the Venom then placed a 1X4 under the brackets where the crash bar attaches to the frame, then used a jack under the 1x4 to raise the front tire off of the floor. It was well balanced and felt very steady. The weight on the 1X4/jack was very little since the pivot was close to the center of the bike.
Since is was going to have the front wheel off for a few days, I lowered the jack so that the ends of the 1X4 rested on pieces of 4X4's in case the jack lost it's pressure over this period of time. It worked well for me. Mike

Diddly what front engine guard are you using? I have the Ledrie ones and they go completely around so no need for any additional support. Just the jack....lol however in this picture I used one because I was taking the front tire off.....
Mine don't go around but stop right above the floorboards. I don't know the brand as they were on when I bought DS. I'll try to attach a photo. Mike
Ok so that works and seems safe enough. I need to find the correct lift table for the living room so I can work more comfortable then at this low height....have to see if there is any good ones on sale at the bike show in a few weeks......
Ratman, what you need is a custom built coffee table/bike lift. Nice oak coffee table in the summer, hydraulic cylinders raise the table top for a bike lift in the winter! How cool would that be???
