Here is a saddle bag setup for a solo seat setup made for the 1500.
Here are my Drifter 800 questions?
1st- Are these complete setups available from any vendor as you see in picture?
2nd- I see they sell the Wompus rack alone for 235 plus shipping and the pictured rack only is chrome and original for the 1500.
What's the current Market value of what's in the picture? Comes with 1500 chrome solo seat rack, two custom made leather saddle bags, frame support for saddle bags to rack. The saddle bags alone were custom made for 600 range the seller said and provided maker site. Everything is excellent condition.
3rd and most important- Has anyone here bought a 1500 rack for their 800 and made the rack mount? Since these have four mounting holes, two each end bracket just like the Wompus rack, and mount to the 1500 onto the frame near where the solo seat bracket mounts to the frame.
IDK but would think if I bought two pieces of steel to make a small bracket that mounts directly where the 800 solo seat bolts go to the solo seat bracket and frame with longer bolts then that covers the strength of frame mount and then have this steel bracket extend backwards just enough to mount to the 1500 rack or a Wompus rack and the 800 Drifter could have the same set-up made for the 1500.
Your Thoughts?????
I have the opportunity to buy the saddlebag / rack set-up seen in pic.

There are attachment systems designed for the 800. I would work from the attachment up rather than the bags down.
I pulled the trigger and bought the 1500 set-up to see if theres a way to add a bracket or something but No way.
This 1500 uses a factory frame mount set-up and 800 frame difference makes it not possible to this set-up in a secure way. The drifter seller is about 4 hours away so I got them next day by Fed Ex.......I had to try since these items are so hard to find and come by.......
Iam prob going to keep the bags for the scootwork's 800 brackets below and prob sell the 1500 chrome rack and all brackets and pieces needed for a 1500 Drifter to add there own saddle bags to if you know someone looking for a solo seat 1500 saddle bag set-up. Have them pm me, Ill sell them if the price is right.......If you look at the picture of the 1500 solo seat saddlebag set up it would be all needed pieces minus the saddle bags but includes the brackets on the saddlebags that would be needed for new saddlebags.....

Dave from scootworks said their making a batch of 10 sets for the 800 Drifter. They do backorders on this item until they have more then 5 customers to make production for a batch of 10. They sell for $240 a set with free shipping. When I talked to him today they had 8 of 10 pre-sold and I made the 9th. So for now one more set left. He said the 10 in production would be done and shipped out in January. So if anyone is thinking about a set they have one left and from what it sounds there is a long wait after this batch of 10 until they have 5 or so pre-order to do another production set.

Not to burst you bubble, but I was number 7 out of that set. I placed my order a month ago and was told that they'd ship in two weeks. I just emailed them a couple of days ago to which they responded that "there was an issue with powder-coating and that they'd be shipping immediately". Now I find out that they told you January.
I'll be interested to see if I get the set before next riding season starts. I've read about these issues with Scootworks all over the place but was sincerely hoping that they were the exception rather than the rule.
Will wait and see :-\.........He mentioned that the month of December their slammed working 7 days a week from all the Xmas orders and things slow down in Jan. The set-up seems pretty cool for a solo saddlebag option so it should be worth the wait. That and these Drifter parts are getting hard to find so it nice that they kept their occasional production going with these compared to discontinuing them all together like some places do when numbers of sales slow down.

I just found the install and review video on Youtube of the scootworks 800 solo saddle bag brackets.
Looks simple to install and low profile when you want to remove main brackets.
Also CrshOverride on the Youtube comment section back in 2014 some had the same waiting a long time for them issue as you mentioned. :( but they will come one day. Especially now that they only do paid pre-orders until they have a majority sold for a production of 10. I was the 9 paid order so the powder coated paint should be baking in the oven soon. ;D

Any luck in getting your mounts yet? I just sent ScootWorks yet another email (was supposed to have my mounts back in November) but have yet to see any product shipped.

I wish you luck with this. I was hearing the same thing last year at this time, after ordering the previous August. I have yet to see the mounts. This spring I requested that they substitute a sprocket / chain set for the mounts that I paid for. The agreed quite happily. However, I have yet to see these items.

I got a similar response. Dave said that they'd be *hopefully* shipping the next day. I'm really not getting my hopes up. I'm debating how long I want to wait before trying to get my money back. Unfortunately that would mean that my awesome new saddlebags would never get mounted.

I am in the same boat keep waiting or get with credit card company for chargeback.. New saddlebags that need the mounts. With such a definitive response from Dave I don't see how how he would be lying otherwise he would of been open ended with a timeline. I think he's a Honest guy. Time will tell........

Don't despair Crash, there are other ways if this doesn't work out. Somebody needs to jump in and make a few 800 brackets. 49, jump in there, pal, and get some knocked out....

I actually have a set of Osprey mounts already. The problem is that they're not compatible with the Corbin two-up saddle that I installed. Like an idiot, I forgot to check before ordering the new bags (also from Osprey). As far as I can tell, the mounts from Scootworks are my only option.
I just made the Osprey brackets work with the U shape metal mod for the front frame mounting hole and spacers for the rear, It works great. This took less than 30 mins from beginning to end, don't get stuck waiting for Scootwork and spending that much more money.
I have Osprey limited saddlebag brackets for my solo and they work great and secure!

BTW I never got my Scootworks brackets and Iam still waiting for them since Dec. 2015 and since just finding out Osprey still has some sets in stock and are high quality for less then half the price you can't go wrong. Osprey sells a lot of Indian stuff.

Just got done making these for the 800 solo seat. Looking into making small batches if the interest is there. Working on a luggage rack for them now.
GOOD JOB. Your got some skills.......With your saddle bag brackets and if you make a luggage rack to mount on top of them would be perfect. I am sure you will get some orders from guys here that need that set-up.......Plus you can make it unfinished and the new buyer can get them powder coated in the color of their choice to make them custom for their bike.......Nice.....If I did not already have my set-up I would be a buyer....
Update- After waiting since Dec. on Scootworks in NC to send me my paid for saddlebag brackets with a new excuse every week/month's--- I cancelled and had to do a credit card chargeback to get back my money from them never sending. After finding Osprey Saddlebag Company still make/have saddlebag brackets that just bolt on if you have the factory solo or double seat. I placed my order and within a week they finally came and now I can finally mount my custom bags.
The Osprey saddlebag brackets took 5 min to install, powder coated black and are high quality. My bags finally can go on my bike after sitting in my basement for 5 months waiting on Scootworks and their next excuse of why I don't have them. Thank you Osprey and forum members who brought up Osprey Saddlebag company that they have them :) http://saddlebags.net

The PO 1500 Drifter owner on Ebay paid $650 for the bags new and I got them with the cargo rack and 1500 struts that I already sold the struts for a package price of $450.

Don't mind a bit and appreciate a different viewpoint / opinion. I considered doing that at the time but really like the factory decals on it and how they flow on the tank and the factory decal also compliment the Indian Headress decal then painter clear coated the whole thing.
The painter offered in the future to do the matching two tone tank with new headdress applied for 200 if I wanted to. I might go that route next winter but content and really like it this way too.
So, I was guessing right...
But maybe the two-tone paint could let the indian headdress pop up even more.
Anyway, your ride is really nice!
