Run-Flat tires: Some of the Honda Odyssey vans have what they call run-flat tires. Only Michelin makes replacement tires, and you have to have a Michelin tire machine to change them. Well, the tires are about $250-300 each to have them replaced so it turns out that I can sell new rims and really nice "regular" tires for about the same money.
What a mess...In order to dispose of the old tires, I had to cut them off of the wheels. Cut around the rim with a knife, to get the bulk of the tire rubber off. Then cut the tire bead with a cut-off wheel (sawzall wouldn't touch it). Inside the tire, there is this hard plastic ring that the tires rides on when it goes flat - that's what allows them to be driven flat. That too has to be cut and chiseled off. But what's left is a real heavy aluminum wheel.

Do you have a recycle place you can take the aluminum and collect a few dollars? I got rid of my aluminum rims and went back to the black steel rims.......the tire place said they would take care of the rims but I said I was going to use them for another vehicle, but took them to the metal recycle place and got $125.00 for them......so good for me.....
That's where they're eventually headed for.. (not in North Bay, but more local ;D ) Scrap prices are really low right now, though.
Well you have some area you can store them till the price goes up once again......
I ran a Dunlop Run Flat Wintersport car tire on my 1500 Goldwing.
My 1800 has a brand new E3 that the previous owner put on it and when it wears out I will be putting a run flat on the 1800.
