Title: New member in Pennsylvania
Post by: Tector on October 07, 2015, 19:15:52 PM
I only started riding motorcycles (after taking the MSF course) in 2011.  I tried several motorcycles without finding one that I really liked (BMW, Moto Guzzi, Honda, Yamaha, the usual suspects).  Then one day, when browsing through Craigslist looking at Indian motorcycles, I saw a Drifter:  wow!, that bike was gorgeous!  AND, it had Kawasaki reliability, and a driveshaft, and electronic ignition, and fuel injection, and water cooling!  I confess, though, I got distracted:  in researching that bike, I found out that the Nomad is actually a better bike, at least on paper.  And I found a used Nomad that I just love (2003, Fi).  But I kept admiring those gorgeous Drifters from afar, especially the blacked-out early models.  I had had a sidecar rig built on a Moto Guzzi, to bring my grand-daughter on rides; Guzzis are great bikes, but I finally got tired of niggling little oil leaks, gauges that don't work, lights that don't work, etc.  So I found a sidecar rig built on a 2008 Vulcan 1500 Fi Classic, and ditched the Guzzi.  But I was still admiring those gorgeous Drifters.  Then last month (9/15), I saw a 1999 Drifter 1500 for sale when I was on vacation, and I bought it.  And again:  wow, that bike is gorgeous!  I'll try to post pics of all 3 of my Vulcan 1500 Fi bikes.

Welcome to the forum, and I know I'm looking forward to the pics!  Matter of fact, we like all bikes here, so show off the others if you have pics of them too!

WELCOME, Tector!!  Glad to have you aboard.  Hope you like your Drifter as much as your other 2.

To be honest, I've been contemplating perhaps looking at Nomads (some day)...    Biggest reason being (perhaps) passenger comfort.  When you get a chance to do a comparison on the 3 bikes, I'm sure we would all enjoy reading it!!
