Title: Are there leads on the 1500 handle bars ??? mine is shaking !
Post by: Nightrider on September 09, 2009, 07:40:58 AM
Hello,

my 1500 Drifter did not have the stock black handlebars as the previous owner installed HD street bob handlebars.
The grips are also not OEM.

Now I am wondering if I do not miss some leads at each end of the handle bar because the front has a tendency to shake like hell if I release the handlbars.

Can anyone tell how are teh stock handlebars ??
Thanks !!

Drifters tend to do this if the tires are worn.  The front or the rear tire can cause this.  How are yours?  Any cupping?

My own bike was like you describe when I first got it.  I changed the tires and the problem went away.

Bar weights would help some too, but they'd only mask the problem.  They're really more for dampening the vibrations from the motor and such that cause your hands to fall asleep anyways.

No weights in the bars. I have the stock bars with Phatt II risers. I occasionally get some shake in the bars at certain speeds, on certain roads, but not enough to worry about.

As has been mentioned, I'd check the tires first... then make sure the stem nut is properly tightened.

Cheers.
