Title: How much effort does it take?
Post by: mittico68 on April 26, 2015, 08:18:32 AM
Ok,now it's my time to make a dumb question...But as I've been told once, if you don't try you won't ever know...
So, I've found a pair of california's style floorboards and I'd really like to get them for ma-deuce.
The only problem is that the seller says they'll fit only the 1500's Drifters and, as far as I know, there's a lot of difference among 1500 and 800 floorboard's attachment.
Could anybody tell me if the adaptation is doable without too much trouble?
Thanx.

Bike bandit lists them as the same part number for 800 and 1500

I haven't compared them side by side, but don't remember seeing any differences.  If Bike Bandit is any indication should fit right on.

;) Well now if I had a 800 and a 1500 out in my garage I would walk out there and measure and see if they are the same, that seems really simple to me. For the 10 mins it would to take off one from the 1500 and off the 800 especially if I was already working on one of them I would see how hard it would be to swap one for the other. Seems easy enough to me, but I only can afford to own one bike...........

My wife told me I could only afford one bike too....

SO where do you think I've been the last 10 minutes...???   I looked at both and they indeed appear identical (at least the right side)...

Thanx a lot, folks.
I'm gonna try to purchase those floorboards and see: if they shouldn't be the same as for the 800, well, I could ever find a 1500 Drifter and buy it... :o

;D ;D ;D
Or maybe, I could say to her: "I've just purchased a gift for our son's 18th birthday... I know he's only 5 now, but the bike's value just increases year after year!"  ;)

I'm interested to see how you make out.  I've had a set of California Floorboards sitting on the shelf for about 10 years now.  After buying them, I read somewhere that the heel shiftier can' be used with the Cali boards.  I guess I could have checked it out for myself but I haven't got around to it yet.   ;D

Appreciate any advice.

Not far from Gibsons and I've been to Molly's reach many times, although it's been a few years I'm sure if it's still there now.

Update...(sorry for the delay but, it's never too late!)
The floorboards are a smooth bolt-on and do not interfere at all with the heel shifter.
Here's a pic:
