Just remove the afterburner tubing on my drifter 800, as many user suggest, and by following the instruction carefully. Many people claim that this will make the engine and exhaust run cooler and in many case decrease popping and backfire on deceleration. My motorcycle never had popping and backfire problem, but since i' ve done this modification it does! Did any of you encountered a similar effect?
Thanks

if you removed the exhaust then you might have to tighten the bolts at the heads. I had the issue with a bit of backfire on deceleration and that cured it, if not then you might want to grampsize the carb. I'll pm you the info. Give me a few minutes.
Didn't replace the exhaust yet! I usually only do one modification at a time so that I can easily trace problem. This popping problem, is just after changing a few valves shims and removing the switch valve. I would like to correct the popping problem before going further with other mod, alough I already have a mod plan in the same line as wolf grampsizing, actually more scooterizing, but with my own twist. Îll let you know when îll get there, but in the meantime can anyone suggest a solution for the popping on deceleration?

You removed the air switching valve? You DID close off the air injection ports to the cylinders, too, didn't you?
The 800 is a bit different, but yes I cap the connection to the head cover and the air filter, and the old vaccum to the valve. Maybe there is air coming in from something I moved but I can't see where.I also changed the spark plug but don't think this could be related??
