I am looking to replace the stock fishtail exhaust on my 02 drifter 800. Can anyone make an educated suggestion on which long shot pipes to purchase?

I guess the longshots are not a perfect fit for the 800 drifter, longshots will only fit the 1500 drifters, i might be wrong but ive nerver seen an 800 with longshots.
BTW, welcome to the forum - this is the place to come for a wealth of information!! Let's see some pics of that 800....
Looking at V&H website, they list the straight shots for the 800 vulcan, but they do not list a long shot option:

However, Hardkrome makes the American Classic, specifically listed for the 800 Drifter:

They are very similar in appearance to the Long Shots, and sound very good, IMO. I have these on my 800.
Are the harkrome still available, evreywhere i check online for canadian retailor they say this item is discontinued? are they really loud? because we now have a law here wich permit max 92 db at idle and 100 db at 2500rpm if your over you get a 200$ fine.
They're available on their (HardKrome's) website, for $500. Free S/H to the lower 48.
As far as db, I couldn't tell you for sure. I would classify them as "loud", but not "really loud", but that's not a very scientific measurement. Maybe HardKrome can tell you if you send them an email??
If I had a db meter, I'd be glad to measure them for you.
There is another Thread on the site about some American Dream Exhaust from Japan. Not sure if they have what you want but several to select from. I also can not vouch for there quality. On the last of the thread someone had ordered but not received yet. I am waiting for their feedback so I can start my order.

I can recommend the Road Burner RB-01-8015 exhaust system for your 800 Drifter. Road Burner was a sister company to Hard Krome and features the same double wall pipe construction as Hard Chrome longshot pipes with the added bonus of a quieter baffle. The baffles are also removable and replaceable with a louder baffle if so desired. The quieter baffle has a fairly loud rumble at idle and a sweet thump on throttle.
I have had the Road Burner system on my 800 Drifter for several years and exhaust note has not changed and no blueing because of double wall construction. Mine were a perfect fit right out of the box. I am very pleased with my Road Burners. Check them out.

And man! I really love it, but I'll have to wait until my cash will be much enough...
I bought a set of Road Burner pipes off ebay made for the drifter 800. Pipes are a little loud but I love the sound. After I installed the pipes, I rejetted the carb with Dyno-jet kit, modified the air cleaner, and drilled out the hole in the slide. Put it all back together and man, what a difference it made. It was like riding a new bike. Better throttle response, better sound, runs great. The best thing is the Road Burner pipes are guaranteed not to blue. I only have about 2k in the pipes, but no sign of blueing yet.
I think I paid about $400.00 but I still see them on ebay. Search Kawaski Drifter exhaust pipes on ebay. Awesome pipes, cheaper than Longshots but look the same. Read up on Gramp-sizing if you buy these pipes.
