I've been doing some digging online now that I have a bit of Christmas money coming in (it's really burning a hole in my pocket already). I came across the Webike website. It looks like a Japanese parts dealer that ships to the United States.

The thing looks killer, is made for the drifter, is in stock, and includes free shipping to the US! Unfortunately I have no clue how the damn thing sounds and was curious if anybody had heard of American Dreams or knows what they system might sound like or how it will perform once installed.
I really don't want to buy something from Japan and have it be terrible.

It looks like the company actually makes quite a bit of kit for the Drifter. Their vintage pipes are pretty nice looking but some of the designs are a little too out there for my tastes (of course, all I can really do is look at the pictures):

I have also seen this site and posted it in another discussion recently. What intrigued me was that some of their exhaust systems are stainless steel. Could not determine if this one was. The design is nice and looks good installed. The price not unreasonable for a complete exhaust.
If you can communicate with the seller, I'd ask if the muffler is baffled, so you have an idea about decibels if that matters. Beyond that and considering how hard it is to find something, seems worth the chance.
The alternative is custom fabrication, which I can't believe with the right shop, would come out reasonably priced.
Further to the question if the muffler is baffled, are the baffles removable; if so a body could 'tune' it more to their taste.
Some really interesting stuff on their site. I like the gatling exhaust, And they have seats!
I like the bazooka tip exhaust. Looks like there is definitely something inside the muffler.
I can't find the thread, but someone posted a red 800 with one of these exhausts on it recently. I gave the opinion that is was a mix of vintage parts and custom made. It was obviously one of these American Dreams exhausts....with the corrugated down pipe heat shields. Anyone know who's machine that was?...or was it just dragged across from images on the web?
IMHO, I spent more on finding a roadhouse and getting it right. These exhausts, especially if they are stainless steel, look like a reasonable deal to me if the price posted is with free shipping....and you can confirm it fits the 800.

I am researching this exhaust; they would look perfect on my ongoing bike project.
I have e-mailed the owner of the company and asked him about baffles, if they are available with serrated headers, and what jets they recommend.
I will report back when I receive a reply.

OK guys, here is the scoop on these pipes:
They do not come with baffles.
They are not available with the "serrated" headers. :(
I cannot determine how loud they are.
Having said all that- I have decided to order them for my Drifter. They just look too damn cool and I think they will look gorgeous with Singh's saddlebags.
The website says they are OK to ship to California and will take 2-3 to get here. Then they have to pass Customs.
Wish me luck! Any advice or observations at this point are welcome-

They will ship February 2nd. Will need time to pass customs. I will try to post a few "unboxing" pics when they arrived.
Also ordered the correct gaskets.
According to Webike, "all hardware necessary to mount on your bike will be included".
This is good news if it proves true.

I've seen that one and a couple of others. But, as you said, they all claim to the 400's. I'm certainly interested in hearing the difference (and knowing if the pipes really fit the 800 since WeBike says that they'll fit both).
Well they sound no louder then my Roadhouse system, JMO but I think the 800 might be just a touch deeper in sound or rumble a tad deeper, not louder though
I would agree that the 800 with the roadhouse has a deeper sound to it but it definitely isn't louder. Or if it is, the difference is fairly negligible.

They ARE in fact available with serrrated headers (called "Bellows" by the manufacturer) and I will be experiencing a delay in delivery time since I chose this option when I found out it was available. LOVE the sound clips above, boy am I excited now!
I really like the way the serrated headers look on mine. That's awesome that you can get them for this exhaust system. I'm interested to see how they turn out.

The stock exhaust on drifters are the only thing I think does not look good at all. I don't care for the ones you see on ebay for the vulcans either

Did you order from Webike or did you order straight from the manufacturer? I didn't see anywhere on the Webike page to select an option like that (as it would pretty much be my dream exhaust). I'm definitely excited to see how this turns out so I can take the plunge as well.

Strange you use the term "Dream Exhaust". I have a .jpeg on my desktop of a nearly identical system to the one I am buying and and I entitled it "My Dream Exhaust".

I ordered mine from Webike, but- here is where things become a little unconventional: I had to have a lengthy e-mail exchange with them proving that American Dreams offers a HEADER for the Vulcan 400 with bellows. I insisted that they should be able to ask A.D. to cut a complete Gordon Fishtail with the same bellows. They kept saying, "no can do".
After alot of "no, we cannot do so" they finally announced that A.D said they could do it- for $223 extra. I didn't care about the extra $$$ because, as we have already discussed, this would be my "dream exhaust". Had to pay the extra $$$ in yen through paypal. In any case, they said three weeks to manufacture and ship, plus whatever time it takes to get through customs. Hoping to see them by end of Feb/ early March.

Sorry for the long delay getting word back on the pipes.
Just installled the day before Easter.
Took awhile to get the folks at Webike to understand about the bellows, but they finally got it.
Took a few "glamour shots" with Singh's leathers.
Installation was straightforward, no issues.
All mounting hardware was provided as promised.
Sound is slightly softer than my Hardkrome American classic straights. Nice note.
Low-end power is now noticeably stronger.
Trying to upload photos; hope they show up.
I'd like to thank crash overide for bird-dogging these for me, I love the pipes.

Glad my hard work paid off for somebody. Personally, I think that's worth at least sending me your old Hard Krome pipes as a thank you. Haha. ;)
Unfortunately it doesn't look like I'm going to have the money to order these this year. I had to go the ghetto route and remove a baffle and do a little drilling to my stock setup to hold me over.
Hopefully they'll still be around when I'm ready. I'm definitely excited to see the pictures. If you have a chance, it'd be awesome to have a decent video to judge the sound off of as well.

Again, kudo's to Mr. Singh for my new all-around leather. I think she's a looker.
(But I am slightly prejudiced on that matter)
Next project will be RivCo air horns, and then paint. Custom job to turn the silver and black to Ivory and black. And that's gonna ouch $$$ wise.
PS- I don't think the sound would disappoint anybody- they're just not loud. Throaty, yes, great "note", yes- louder than stock, way yes. But tooth grinding loud-no.

Side covers are aftermarket chrome jobs-
Are you going to leave them chrome or paint them to fit the bike is my question. But the bike does look good.

Nazarene: nicely done....those look great. I guess you had no problems with the install. Glad you are happy with the exhaust note after all that. IMO, you described it...louder than stock, but not too much.
Thanks for running it to ground for all of us. Again, IMO, good price for all stainless otherwise custom exhaust that looks right on the machine. I like it!
They do look good, i was going to suggest a custom paint job but I see your already leaning that way.
How much did this set-up wind up costing you total, may I ask?
Pilgrom, if you're referring to the exhaust, they came at right around $700
The exhaust is BEAUTIFUL! It's similar to what my brother and I fabbed for my '99 800, about a year after it was brand new.
We ended up with an actual '51 Chief front wheel and drum brake, an original front fender, a set of "Hollywood" handlebars, some original Indian hand controls, lights and windshield, and also the old Chum-Me seat and Chieftan saddlebags on it... By the time we were through, it was ALMOST a complete '51 Chief!
Say Nazarene... Are the flex bellows just slipped over your headpipes, or are they a fixed part of the exhaust system?
Also, is the muffler "tunable"?

The Bellows are show only and do a good job of hiding any bluing that will inevitably develop on the pipes underneath.
And this goes for everybody: BELLOWS ARE NOT INCLUDED WITH THIS SYSTEM. THEY THEY ARE AN ADD-ON I REQUESTED SPECIFICALLY AND ARE THEREFORE "SPECIAL ORDER".
As far as being tunable- this system will accept any slip on you wish to add with the specified pipe diameter. Don't know if this answers your question or not, sorry.
