Title: 2015 goals
Post by: Troll on December 14, 2014, 14:35:37 PM
This time of year a lot of people are considering New Years resolutions they won't keep. I have a few goals set for the next riding season that I fully intend to follow through on.
    1. Lose about another 10 lbs. I'm down to 172 as of this morning
    2. Make the trip to Pikeville for Drift-In
    3. Roll the Drifter over into the next set of digits...should be an easy one, 92,500 right now....should have 100,000 before I go to Drift-In
    4. Put another 2,000 miles on the W-650
    5. ?????? still working on the next one!

  My list...

1)I too would like to lose some more weight; the 10 pounds I gained this year, plus another 10....
Likely won't keep this one....  :o
  2)Don't buy any more guns...
     I guarantee I won't keep this one... :D
  3)Go to Driftin...
This one I am really going to try to keep...no promises though... too many unknowns...  :(
4)Catch up on my "To-do" list....
      Yeah....right..... ;D

I'm with you on these. Especially the second one. I had the buy no guns goal for the second half of this year. I made it 3 weeks before a "too good to pass up" deal popped up. Right now my goal is to make it to the end of the year. That may or may not happen. I really want a 44 mag or larger revolver and there is one more gun show before the new year...

I left one off the original list that's actually connected to the Pikeville ride...I want to ride the Dragon again...one more time. It's an additional 100 or so miles to the Drift-In if I do it...no big deal. I'm leaving on Tuesday morning, EARLY...Should be able to make it to Knoxville in 1 day, and then 50 miles down 129 to the Dragon, and then back the same way.....

WOW!!!!  A whole year without living under the threat of Snow Angel pics waiting for me in my Email?  I've become so accustomed to the threat that I don't know how to live any other way anymore!

I wasn't here for that ordeal. Might have been a good thing lol.

Since we're talking about goals, and some are motorcycle related, Here's a couple things for my list:

1.- I want to take the advanced rider MSF course, or the bike bonding course, or some other additional training course that will make me a better rider. Troll, you might be able to chime in and give me a recommendation.

2.- My goal for last year as my first calendar year of riding was 5,000 miles. This year I want to double that and hit 10,000 miles. (This one is more complicated than it sounds because even though I ride my motorcycle to work almost every day in the summer, it's only 7 miles round trip. Even riding for a summer, this adds up to basically nothing in the grand scheme of things.) I did hit my goal last year and then pass it by about 600 miles though without any major trips. This year I'm hoping to do a few weekend trips in addition to the one major one I have planned which should help me reach my goal.

The U.B.B.E. is a civilian version of the Police Motor Officer's course. It's a very intensive course, and will REALLY test your skills. The ARC is more for the street rider with a lot of experience. Depending on how much previous training you've had, I would suggest going in steps. The next logical step for a "newer" rider would be the BRC II.....used to be called the experienced rider course....

What are these "snow angels" y'all speak of? I'm picturing something like ski bunnies? LOL!
Let's see...goals, well, #1 Find a great deal on a nice gun and brag about it here, just to bait the "no more guns"  guys. Hahaha
#2, lose this 10 pounds and keep it off! I'm at 216.  I can run for a couple of months and lose it, but next time, I want to not binge eat for the two weeks afterwards so I can keep it off!
#3 Add a nice quality light bar for my baby!
#4 A group of us on vulcan riders are planning a nice circular trip through the Rockies this summer. So far, we've got an Australian who is lost in Canada, a cornhusker in Nebraska,  a couple of guys from around the weird part of Texas (Austin area) and myself. Hoping more will join as plans become more firm. Plan is to meet in OK City and head west. Some will make the whole trip, others will jump in and ride a ways, then jump out and head out on their own. I plan to make most of it at least. So, no Drift in this year, but definitely planning on it in the future!
#5 Meet up and ride with Priest and others he knows AT LEAST once this coming year.

I've got something nasty eating away at me and most nights I vomit up blood but, my grandaughter is getting married on 19th june so I hope to have a dry day to ride the 600 miles round trip to her wedding and of course to still have the strength..I also have to ride through at least 50 speed cameras to get to her..

John.

Don't you know?  In order to become an official "insider" on this forum, viewing the Snow Angel is the right of passage!  It's been this website's tradition for several years now!

Prayers for you, John.
+1 on the prayers for both of you - John and Andy - hope you both get feeling better soon.   John, you been to the doctor on the stomach thing yet?   Sounds like it could need some attention, buddy.
