Title: That's a great tank you have there.......
Post by: pcarrell on October 01, 2008, 10:41:52 AM
I'm a newbi to these bikes, and I'm trying to learn.  Can ya help me out here please?

I understand that in 2001 the Drifter 1500 got more chrome and a spiffy new tank that boasted about a half gallon more capacity.

Were there any other changes in the 1500 run over the years, besides paint of course?

1)the weak clutch spring and single holder was replaced by a much stronger one and two springs - about 2004.

2) Electronic speedo vs analog...

I think that's pretty much it. The bike was "right" at the outset, so not much needed to be changed.

I think you mentioned that clutch thing before.

Seeing as the engines are the same, can the new clutch setup then be retrofit?  It would seem that it would.

Absolutely. The new spring and holders are used on all 1500/1600 Vulcans now. I have them on my 2002.
