Hey, it's The Bride. It was a beautiful Sunday in GA yesterday, temp almost hit 70! 2beers was out on the road in the Big Truck, and I was working on my winter flower garden...then I just couldn't resist. I tossed my 'to do' list to the 'do it later' pile, grabbed my helmet, aired up the tires, and headed to the gas station on Princess.
My original intent was to take a short ride, then return to the house to switch bikes and take my Honda Shadow for a ride, too. Well, two hours into enjoying the changing colors of the autumn leaves, gently guiding the lowered Drifter along some 35 mph winding back roads, I ran into two of our good friends who were just leaving for a ride on their bikes (she rides a Victory King Pin, he rides a Triumph Rocket III). They didn't need to ask twice when they suggested I join them!
So, four hours and 90 miles later, Princess and I pulled back into the garage. I haven't stopped smiling yet 8)
40 and ugly here, yesterday, but I took the W out, anyway. They are predicting as much as 8" of $now on Monday night, into Tuesday, and temps down into the teens.....and not Celsius, either!!!

Ugh, it is November, but you're a trooper, Troll! I've skipped a couple of weekend of riding in the 50's and windy, lol. It'll be going there again later this week...glad I took advantage of it yesterday!
Yeah it got cold here last night all the way down to 64*f i almost had to wear a jacket on my way into work this morning :-D. Good for you being able to grab a bike and go. My wife would be harshly scolded if she took my bike out while i was stuck at work lol doesn't keep her from doing it though :-P. I am excited for my day off and riding with the veterans tomorrow should be a blast
Glad to hear you were able to toss the list to the side yesterday , Bride . That's funny and I'm sure you told 2beers all about the beautiful foliage ... LOL ...
Troll good to see you tooling around the KW . Man 8" of snow heading your way , huh . Please try to keep that white stuff around your area for a little while as I'm not done riding yet ;) I put Ma-Deuce up for the winter going on two weeks now , but were still having some nice weather around these parts . Actually it's been in the upper 50's - low 60's witch is very surprising , this time of year . Did a nice 200 mile ride yesterday and actually stopped up at Perkin's Point . This overlooks Bear Mtn Bridge and was a beautiful scenery this time off year .
I have a couple of things to do to the Drifter before it gets too cold out there to do them. I just finished (I hope for the last time this year) cleaning leaves out of the gutters.....I HATE that job!!!!
Today is probably the last nice day for the foreseeable future. High today is 72. High for tomorrow is 38° F with it getting down to 23° F tonight. Quite the temperature swing for 24 hours. Then this weekend there is a chance for "wintery mix" aka sleet and freezing rain. We tend to get ice instead of snow in kansas. What all that means is that today I am going to ride for a couple of hours before the front moves through.

The house we are in had covers for the gutters; they are perforated, clip on to the gutters, and work great. We get no leaves in our gutters. Might be something to use..... more Drifter time with no gutters to clean.... :D

k.a, don't get misled here...2beers and I share a screen name, but we don't share a Drifter! Blue is his 800, Princess is my 800...and my Honda Shadow came along to help me get riding again after 25 years off 2 wheels. Problem is there's an imbalance in the garage, lol...I have been informed that I can't say 'no' if he finds a second bike he'd like to add to the stable!
Be safe and enjoy that Veterans Day ride!

Bear Mtn Bridge
Yes, D1, I did inform him about my day, lol, and he was happy to hear about it...the crazy schedule we've led lately has found him riding a good bit when I'm working. I needed to catch up on riding time!
Bear Mtn Bridge is somewhere we used to ride or drive to back in our younger years...we're originally from North Jersey and that was a Sunday trip destination. I was visiting Mom a couple of weeks ago and took her up around Greenwood Lake for the first time in about 20 years...she enjoyed it.
I used to go "upstate" to school at New Paltz...I would take 9w sometimes, and I always enjoyed the trip over the Tappan Zee....

49 Do you happen to know the name brand of those gutter guards? or have a pic? Since you say they work good, thought I'd ask. I have some real expensive gutter guards on this house (PO put then on) - they are very fine screen - but heavy rain runs over them. I'm trying to find something to replace them - having trouble finding something that works.
It was pretty cool over the weekend, and I had too many chores to do to ride.
But today got up to low 60's so rode the 800 to work after lunch. It was nice this afternoon, but pretty chilly this evening at 6 after dark. Maybe it will be nice enough tomorrow too.

Yep, we're famiiliar with that area! I usually fly into White Plains, it's the same distance to Mom's from there as it is from Newark. No brainer to me to view the Tappan Zee rather than the NJ Turnpike.
I might just spring a bike from it's slumber if the weather is as nice as it is supposed to be tomorrow. That is, if I get the gutters cleaned out, snow-tires on the cage and the snow-blower prepped.

And, Mz. 2beers (Bride), lady, where are the pics of YOUR beautiful fall foliage ride? Our leaves were gone a couple weeks ago!!
GB one of these day's I'll figure out how to post picture's on here again . I don't know why I can't any more ? I need to learn how to resize the picture's and remember Troll explaining to me at one point , but still a no go on my end ??? Never use to have this problem before so sorry I can't share the beautiful scenery and such :-[
Mrs Bride White Plains is a nice little airport for sure . I work in that area so know it very well . Tappen zee bridge has a ton of construction going on at the moment with a new one being built . The water is filled with floating cranes and looks nice first thing in the morning , just like a poster or picture .
Well it's going to reach 60* tomorrow so It will be a great day for a planned fun filled riding Veteran's Day .
Snow, sleet and 36 degrees here, right now. Looks like we won't get the BIG storm...only 4" or so.....and then the temp goes down......

GB, I must admit, I never stopped to point and shoot. Georgia doesn't believe in having shoulders on roads lol, so there wasn't a safe place to pull over anyway. Maybe if we get up to the mountains in the next week or so, I'll be able to oblige :)

Have a great, safe ride for Veteran's Day...that goes to anyone else who is riding today, too!
This last visit I took to NJ, I flew into Atlantic City, so I didn't see the construction on the TZ bridge. It is amazing work to witness, though, I'll check it out on line and maybe be able to see it on my next trip. :)

I'll drag out the extension ladder and get you some pics, and if possible the name of them.

You don't have to get the ladder out - too much work. Maybe just find "like" ones on google or something and let me know... Dont' go to that much trouble.
Oh boy GB , now you have poor 49 dragging around ladders by himself . Who's going to hold the ladder as he's trying to read the gutter guard ::) 49 you better be careful up on that ladder ;D
Thats okay, GB, I have to put the ladder up on the shop as soon as the frost is off the roof; never got warm enough today. I'll take a look at that time.
Thanks for your 'concern', D1......you might want to be concerned for my poor little wife.....she's the one standing under lil' old graceful me, holding the ladder.......hoping and praying I don't fall on her.....lol
Our weather has set in for the winter now, it gets dark before 4pm and doesn't get light until 8am, We can expect wind and rain every day with about a month of ice and/or snow, probably until may when the rain will ease off into showers.. I have been retired from work for many years now and so I don't have to ride in bad weather any more and although I sometimes feel a little guilty about you poor people who still have to ride to work in all weather..
John.
Hey, GB; here is a pic of the gutter guard on my roof gutters. The holes are about 1/8".
Looks like it would keep the leaves out...do you have the name of the manufacturer?
I couldn't find the name on them; they were on when we bought the place. I am still doing some snookping on the 'net, tho. If I find them I'll post a link.
Okay; looks like they are "Shur-Flo" brand, original design. Here is their website.

Well I was wrong again.. It didn't rain today, well most of it anyway, so I went for a nice ride around some of the Welsh valleys..It felt great..
John.

Made in Wisconsin!!! We all hate cleaning gutters!
Lol! Should be good then!
THANKS, 49
Those look like they would do the job.
Mine are like this attachment - very fine of screen, and sloped too much - water constantly drips off the edge of the gutter when it rains. I need to get something different.
Do you have any maple whirligigs? That's another problem here - those things get caught in a lot of designs if the holes are too big.
Thanks for the time you spent! yours look similar to the ones I saw at the local hardware.
Np... ;)
