Ive been invited to do a veterans motorcycle escort to some jewish ww2 veterajs on a luxury bus from orange county to the jnland empire for a parade. After my first attempt at riding my bike was a failure and i lost 4 gallons of fuel in 5 miles. I was pushing the bike home when some jewish bikers stopped me an helped push my bike to gas station. Super nice guys very friendly very jewish lol beards the way they talked dressed to see them on bikes through me off a little but that led to my invite to ride with them om the escorting veterans to parade trip. I am not religious but i am very exciting to escort a large group of ww2 heroes anywhere regardless of their believes this is exciting for me. Got me wondering if any of you guys have any fun rides planned for veterans day

My Sqn does the Veteran's Day thing a touch different, we go to a small town in QC to help them out the Sat. before the 11th, the town Temiscaming, is really happy to see us, and they put on an awesome feed for us, Then they send a contingent over to North Bay to make the parade here nicer. We have been doing it for 20 some years now. Then on the 11th I'll be at the local service as a spectator. Bike is being parked the 31st of Oct, before the snows come.
Bike hibernates in october!?!! Thats a crying shame my bike needs to run she needs to be let open on the highway. I dont think she will sit more than a few days all winter with the so cal weather
Yeah, Ratman thinks that by living up near the North Pole he'll get more presents from Santa. So far he has a pretty impressive firewood collection that the jolly old guy brought him! :P
ka, need to be parked and ready for winter, because nothing worse then getting caught with your stuff not done and the sonw falls and things have to suffer for your lack of awareness.

I ride until it snows. Sometimes, that's in October, and sometimes I get out periodically in December...so yes, I should be riding on Veteran's Day......
let me quantify my earlier post, if I had a garage I would wait, but getting the bike into the house takes about an hour from start to finish, and I would rather do it before the snow flies. Normal we get snow the last part of Oct, and some times it stays other times it does not, but 15 Nov is snow time. I have my winter list of projects and mods ready to start.
I think veterans day is probably on the 11th of November, we call it rememberance or armistice day, I dress up in a black suit and black overcoat and walk down to the war memorial in the local park where prayers are said and the English and Welsh national anthems are sung, wreaths are left at the memorial monument and we all wander off home in the rain..I'm not at all religious but I attend out of respect.

We used to call it Armistice day, too. Officially...11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month....that's when all the ceremonies start..

that's awesome i wish i could bring ethel in the house but where my wife is concerned that like poking the sleeping bear lol. She would rip me to pieces
Here it is called Remembrance Day, in town all the local schools are bussed over to the local arena, the local Military units, regular and reserve forces, gather with the different Vet groups, and Legion groups and march to the arena, the have a few prayers, a wreath laying and then people go to the Legion for a small lunch and some hang about and talk to the old veterans and recall their old friends and pals.
K-a there are good points of living alone, having really nice hardwood floors, I do take proper precaution's, I put underlay on the floor first, then a sheet of 3/4" plywood, and then the bike is parked on that. Just like to get it moved before the first major snow fall, because I have seen people wait and procrastinate, and then wham they have to leave their bike in the shed or garage and not have time to do an oil change or do a proper winterizing because of the snow and fallen temps.
I got 17 more years of guarantee left in this marriage everything after that is all up to her i miss being single bad. I will never be married again if this doesnt work out lol. Not that i am not happy but the tie down life has its draw backs wouldn't trade my son for anything though. Last nights nhl ducks game club level we beat the Minnesota Wild 2-1 great game real nail bitter .

This will be a bitter sweet Veteran's / Remembrance day for myself, after 40 + years of wearing my uniform, 28 years of Army Green and then in Air Force Blue, the rest this will be my last parade in uniform.
Now why is your face not paint Anaheim colours? Next time I see a Anaheim game being televised in my area I'll watch it to see if I see KA jr. in the crowd......lol.......think it would be Leafs or Sens, perhaps the Habs and we will see it here. Will keep an eye out. If you know that the Ducks are playing a CDN team and you go pm me.....ok.......coolest game on earth.......

Yes the seats seem high but the arena isnt as tall as it looks the height of the club level is perfect for seeing the whole game and not tge back of some jack asses head i will get a better pic for you guys at the next game :-D
Hey KA, good looking family! My only child just turned 18 today. I'd give anything to have another 5 to 10 years of her growing up to look forward to. It seems like yesterday she was only 4 or 5 and needed my wife and I for everything.
I was planning a fishing trip to Arkansas through Veterans Day, but may jump on the bike and ride up to the Arkansas Pig Trail and their Baby Dragon Tail instead.

Hahahaaha yanks i miss that term. Growing up in mo you hear allot of it. I don't know what this mysterious winterizing disease is but it seems to be more contagious than ebola
:) winterizing is a must, at 0600 when I go to work and the roads are covered with a film of frost, and you can feel the bike sliding under it is not a fun feeling, and the frost does not come out till about 0830 so not a good thing to ride to work, and forecast for this morning is snow flurries.........yipeeeeeeeeee

Car is ready...changed the oil to 5-30...soon it's going to be my main mode of transportation. Bikes will be ready soon, Changed the coolant in the Drifter this Spring, so I have at least another year. 2 battery tenders ready to go...now all I need to do is pick a date before the snow and sub zero cold arrive. Supposed to be in the low 60s all week, so not just yet...but soon.
Troll at least you can just scoot in and out of the garage far easier then I can from the living room. Coolant is still good, hope for a warm day so I can at least give it a oil change and a good washing before I move it inside. Next seven days the highs are in the low fifties and drop to the 30's.........need to purchase a set of elephant ears over the winter but even those do not really help with these temps, this chart might be of help....

Once it's in, I will be jacking it up, taking off the wheels and there she will stay until it's warm enough to put back together without getting frost bite...This is why I have to decide in advance, pick a day and just do it, while it's still warm enough outside to make it happen..however, it's not in now, so I went out for a little cruise along the river. I really think that the bags added a lot to your ride makes it look really vintage. Looks really nice.
The little devil was really moving fast, out there in the middle of the street...I didn't think they could run....I'm getting to like the bags, too. I had them stuffed full last weekend with my trip to MadTown, and they really look nice when they are not sagging. My inside framework will fix that little issue. I've seen some that are worse than these, and some that are better, so I know what to expect. I'm going to find some black liquid shoe polish to fix up the minor scratches in the finish, or perhaps I'll dye them chocolate brown, since they are real leather, and can be dyed....decisions, decisions....

Troll, there is nothing more relaxing to me then tinkering and working on my bike, it is like when I am cleaning my fish tank it is therapy for me, as long as the work on the bike is not because it is broken but because it is something I wanted to do, the winter of tearing it down and learning about it pieces by piece was a huge learning experience, and is nothing better in the spring to know after the first ride everything is functioning as it was supposed to and I did it right,

Well F#CKITY F#CK F#CK F#CK!!!!!!!! RIDING IN THE VETARJS DAY PARADE. Was supposed to be a blast a real tribute to the heroes. It was very much so and i enjoyed the hell out of it. That being said on the way to the parade 1/2 mile from our stop this african american junky comes running out in the middle of the street high off his ass running right at our bikes. The bikes in front of me lockem up and go down. I had no where to go stayed up right but rear ended a buddy's license plate bracket. An bike tipped into another bike an took out my handle bars I've been soo pissed i hhaven't posted in two weeks. We are all alright but go thought it was funniest thing ever and takes off running.
