Title: Can you cross tire tread patterns?
Post by: zig on July 05, 2014, 09:50:43 AM
I need to replace my rear tire. My bike has Pirelli tires on now and the front tire looks great. I'd lke to move over to Michelin Commander II. Is there going to be a problem putting a Michelin on the back and riding with the Pirelli on front until it needs replacing?
Thanks in advance.

Probably less of an issue that riding with a worn out rear tire...The Michelin has a very round profile. If the front Pirelli is not worn square, you probably won't have any problems. Watch the inflation pressures. Michelin recommends 36 psi cold for the rear on a 1500 solo...don't overinflate, as so many do.

I had a Continental Milestone on the front and a Metzler 880 on the back for 10,000 miles with no issues.
