Post by: moosewing3 on April 08, 2014, 08:33:10 AM
OK call me stupid but I just bought a used OEM solo seat for my 1500, I'm standing here looing at it, I cant see where the back four bolts go. Is there a diiferent mounting piece for it?

Back 4 bolts???

Did the seat come with the angle brackets still installed?

usually not, since these are hard to get. You have to remove those from your double seat and install on the solo. Once you remove the hardware for the two up seat frame, the solo fits the same way. The front goes under the bolt/washer deal on the front, and the rear is attached via a bolt on either side to the angle bracket.

Yeah, there's two little triangle pieces that attach to the seat that then bolts to the frame.  You can just see one of them in this drawing.  It's the part that part number 130 goes through.  They don't sell them separately.  http://www.ronayers.com/Seat-C358596.aspx

If you don't have it, don't worry!  You can make them pretty easily.  http://www.vulcandrifterriders.com/reviewpost/showproduct.php?product=484&cat=52

Where did you get the solo seat?

I am in the market for one.  I just acquired a second Drifter and its only got an ugly 2 up...Paint job is completely unsat. expensive paint but skulls all over,,,YUK.

I have a OEM tan solo but the color scheme calls for black on this one.  The other option is an Indian  Baby Chummee solo with seat rails from Heathers Leathers.  Expensive but worth it.

OK guys. Here's the deal.  We've got to get together on this. The next time someone asks about how to mount a solo seat on a Drifter, we say "It can't be done! Sorry it's impossible.  The only solution is to immediately sell the seat to one of us." OK? got that.  We really need to stick together on this.

Or we could just say "Sorry mate, but only jmbo knows the secret to that.  You'll have to get with him."  Then it's all on you and we're free and clear!  ;D

Vinnie, do you have pics of the seat? I might be willing to do a trade for a black solo.
