Well it is officially spring, thank the good Lord we made it through another long, hard, cold winter...now-lets ride.
I hate snow. It snowed all night here. Did I mention I hate snow??
I hear ya 49. We just got another 8 inches of wet heavy snow again here last night on top of at least a 2ft base still. We ain't ridin' here for a while. That's ok. The bike is still apart in the shed. Not quite finished the winter project yet! Should have it done just in time for the first (hopefully) ride in late April!
I haven't even STARTED on my winter bike projects yet. Too busy with a project I never should have started. And now getting blind-sided with other issues...... guess those winter bike projects will still be there next winter..... :'(
Had the W out for some exercise...I still have to be careful in the alley, since there is still rutted ice, but at least they have both been out on the road..The weather doodah said it was 78 deg on this date in 2012...I remember that, and that is was 20 this time, last year....it's 45 today, a so called "normal" temp for the day...
Well snowed all day yesterday, and we have about 8" of snow on the ground and it is really wet and heavy so used the blower to move it and my knees are now telling me I was a fool for doing it.......oh well soon it will melt and I can get my ride out be like my Hero Troll and riding.....
Yeah, you might get out in time to go to Drift-In...
Happy to hear a few of my forum friends were able to pull their bikes out today , that's awesome ! Unfortunately it looks like a few more weeks for myself , being there's still slick spots on the roads not to mention the dam crators that will probably swallow a bike whole ... Man I must admit I'm going through riding withdraws badly . Maybe I should have followed ratmans lead and hooked up a fan in front of the bike with Trolls videos ..... LOL .... For those riding be safe and enjoy 8)

Same here, 49 - I haven't started my BIKE project yet either. So whatcha working on??? I've got several irons in the fire that need to get finished before I tear into my new-to-me 1500. I've even had to sub some out.... more on that in another post....
But the 800 is ready when I decide to break it out.
Spring was OK here today. Rain this morning, warmer than it has been most of the winter (maybe 45-50F?) some sun in the afternoon, then more cloudy/rainy for the evening.
D1- I know what you mean about the holes- the roads around here are the worst I've seen for a long time! And lots of sand and loose stuff all over, not to mention still salt on the roads. I hate salt badly.
GB , I'll agree .... I can't remember the roads being this bad , ever . In fact just this morning alone we counted 11 cars that had hit the same holes on the thruway with flat tires . Man would have been a great day for business for you . Winter has really put a damper on a lot of things this year .
Here in Italy it's already springtime since a couple of weeks...I mean: weather is nice and quite enough warm!
Been ridin' again my sweeet bike last week, after the winter stop, even though I've to be really carefull with my right leg (unfortunately, I had a stupid accident in a soccer match last January :-\).
Snow, snow, snow here also! It's spring...but I suspect someone didn't get the memo!
;) Nanook I cleared the deck once more....soon I'll be shovelled right out.......
spring will be here in time for fall
And I thought I was DONE with the wood for the year! Thought wrong. It's getting down to the teens (F) tonight, Monday and Tuesday nights. Highs of 30's or something like that. If you can believe them.
So, even though I had the wood stove cleaned out for the year, and all the fireplace tools taken out - I hauled up a little more wood today- hopefully to - ONCE AGAIN- get through this cold spell until warmer weather arrives....
Darned weather liars....
Getting another 1-3" of snow on Tuesday here.
Ended up being 10F this morning here. I havent' looked at the snow forecast yet.... not that you could believe it anyway.
What other job could one have that they could be SO WRONG ..... SO OFTEN.... and still keep employment??

Yup, another inch or so here Tuesday morning is planned. Where exactly is spring this year? Do we need to put it on a milk carton?
don't know why there is all that complaining, they are doing the best they can......I too could be a weather man...
Today we will have periods of sun and cloud, followed by darkness and then the temps will be between 20*F and somewhere in the 30's perhaps soon to reach into the 40's so have your sun block ready just in case and we have a 50 50 chance of showers this week.
the 5 day forecast and the other day...
Yeah, it's snowing here, now, too...and then the sun comes out and then it's gone...
Troll buddy I feel for you it is now 1931 and it has been snowing for over a couple of hours .......
my deck was clear earlier in the day and oh boy I get to clear it again...same as the walks and the driveway........
Global warming....
;) family forum so I can not say a word.....
I've been able to get out a few times this spring, but today was, by far, the best. 48 deg, and SUNSHINE!!!!! Took a little ride up the river, and out onto a no mans land between Wi. and Mn called Brice Prairie. Lots of ice on Lake Onalaska, and ice fishermen, too. I went south about a mile, and the channel is open, and there was a clown in a boat. I didn't get his picture, as I was riding around the park, and he took me by surprise...It's not beach weather, yet, but the river in front of the beach is mostly ice free.
Tomorrow is supposed to be 60 so I'm planning a little ride down to Lansing, Ia...
Great to see a member getting some fresh air time , Troll . I've still been unable to break free from this crazy weather . It's been raining since yesterday evening and is suppose to stop late Sunday night . The plus side to all this rain is the roads should be well cleaned off from all the sand and salt . Be safe Troll and man I'll tell ya , the more I see your seat set up the better it looks every time ;)
Nice pics Troll.
We got more snow. Late in the year for here - we got 3-4". The ground is all white again... >:(
They are talking snow by mid-week..not too unusual for here. I have decided to expand my horizon a bit... I'm going to go to Prairie Du Chein and then to Lansing on the way back! Should be about 120 miles....
You talking about a ride? Is it nice enough today?
I was talking to another guy at the shop Friday. Customer/acquaintance/buddy of one of my techs. He has about a 2003 Indian and a newer HD, so whenever he comes in I usually talk to him a little about bikes. He turned me on to a guy that does leather seats nearby, but that's a different story...
ANYWAY, he was telling me he just went out and bought a complete heated suit and is looking at a modular/full-face helmet. Said he's tired of it being too cold to ride.... I'm not wanting to spend that kind of money on gear right now, so I'll just wait until it warms up and stops snowing. Which judging by recent weather may be a while... :(
We had a decent day yesterday and a lot of melting happening, which in effect means flooding all over the place, because I live on a small hill the water runs down my driveway into the backyard, so spent almost all afternoon cutting through about 4" of ice to create the Ratman canal system, seems to have worked will but my poor shoulders and arms are paying for it today.
On a good note I am just about got the bike all back together and close to riding. Just need to get the bike out of the house.........
good news is the bobcat and truck will be here so PC you and Cotton mouth will get this gift soon........
Just got another four inches. I don't get it, it must be spring because the Leafs are falling apart..
lol nobody will get that one.....lol.....
40 when I left this morning, 30 mph south wind...I wasgoing to go down to Lansing and across the Blackhawk bridge, taking video...but! If it hadn't been for the wind, I might have done it, but the 30 mph cross wind on a steel deck bridge didn't sound too appealing. I still covered 133 miles, however. There is lots of ice and snow out there, especially at the higher elevations and where it is sheltered from direct sun. There were ice fishermen here and there, too!

That settles it! I'm packing! Chief, get the guest room ready.
I rode to the monthly ABATE meeting today. There is still some snow and ice here and there, but I got this...first one of the year, on the way home!
Another bike ?
BUG SPLAT!
LOL .... I thought my phone screen was that dirty .
thought rock chip........
weather seers said that tomorrow would be rain or snow flurries.....so I guess we get to pick which we want.........
Rain flurries..or 6" of partly cloudy...
listening to the radio just now seems someone dumped a bike sometime today and hit a pedestrian.......more to follow if they say any more....
I know it's definitely spring here:
Lots of rain
The yard is really wet
The pond is full
water laying in fields, across the road, and all over
The dog is wet every time she comes in
I saw frogs jumping into the pond when I walked by to the barn this afternoon
It's really wet
Did I mention everything is wet and muddy?

BUG SPLAT!
I wish I just had one splat on my windshield. I had more than that on my gloves from riding yesterday.
Here in Kansas, you can always tell it's spring with all the farmers burning their fields. Smoke inhalation does tend to detract from the enjoyment of riding though...
Spring has arrived in South Dakota! Yesterday was torture... hundreds of bikes passed by my house all throughout the day yesterday, reminding me that I wont get to pick my drifter up until Friday afternoon!
Its going to feel like one hell of a long week.
all good things come to he who waits............
Springtime brings out all kinds of things from hibernation...Bears, Bats, Bugs and....dog poop that hid under the snow all winter.....
Also Rat(man). And as to those dug turds, I'm beginning to think they breed under the snow all winter :o....my dog never craps on the lawn, always out on the other side of the driveway. Yet always a yard full of them.... ;D
Well I do not own a dog, nor a 49'er......but my yard has land mines guaranteed, now we shall be polite and ask the neighbours 30+ son to come and clean up behind his hound.......if not once all the snow is gone, I'll make the rounds, cleaning up and make a very nice pile in their yard.......and see what the son thinks when his son gets into it.........guess I'll put the gates back up between the yards.......once the snow is gone.........
Sounds like that 30+ son could use a good, meaningful trip to the woodshed......if you get my drift.
He is from the me generation and it is us who owe him a living............
got your drift....lol.....
big + 1 on 49's comment .... or just put it on his front stoop to walk in first thing he comes out the door

One place where I lived, I had pretty ignorant neighbors and they and their kids walked their dog all over my lawn, leaving piles. Then one day I decided to return the favor. I pulled out some old golf clubs and drove some of those piles back to where they came from. ;)

Well Pilgrim to get your thread back on track from these thread jackers:
I am off for 12 days at the end of the month and hope the snow is gone and I can get out riding by then........
In the low 60's here today, got to get out and actually hit the highway today! Was thinking about heading to LaCrosse and looking up Troll, but Mama had a pretty hefty "honey-do"list, including a new timing belt in her Kia.............wants her car back for work.
Not a bad job, but with no heated shop..........had to wait for a semi-nice day to do it. Anyway, got to ride some and finally realize how really nice my Drifter rides and handles. I read somewhere that they are hard to turn around in the street.......long wheelbase.........etc, I found no such problem. I can easily push mine into a turn or corner, head up and whip around no sweat.
I'm really pleased with the performance, it came with a Cobra FI2000 already installed..........It's a Keeper..........anyone wanna buy a Custom Softail......?? ::)
Bob
Glad you like the ride, and rained since midnight nice easy steady rain, snow is melting fast, so the end of the month is looking good.......

Troll I see you still have the accent ... LOL
Suppose to hit the high 60's by the end of the week and rain Saturday morning . I'm praying my leather is back from Osprey so I can button up the sprung seat , and finally get to hear what the road house exhaust sounds like ::)
What accent?
Back to more pleasant thoughts of Spring...My delayed trip to Lansing happened today. They predicted 70, but that didn't happen. The bridge maintenance is finished, so both lanes are open. Here's a shot from below the bridge along the rail road tracks. 1/4 mile steel deck bridge...
oh bet that was a fun feeling riding over that sucker
I love this bridge...just like the Michelin ad says..."the right tire changes everything". I had planned video, but I forgot to charge the GoPro battery. Got 1.30 of video, but not of the bridge....Supposed to be nice again tomorrow, so back he goes!

have fun......
and more snow forecast this coming weekend or next week.......lol....
Ahhh, Spring. The snow melts, the river floods, the bugs come out, the gutters are plugged, and then the thunderstorms start...as we enter tornado season..
A day to sit in the living room and tinker on the bike.......
feels like summer...
Mid 70's, nice breeze, and wind in the hair! Can't ask for more!
we finally hit into the 40's, lost of snow has melted, about half a beach left on the roads, so need some rain to clear the sand off the roads.
PC ride safe and have fun.......

We had low 70s today, and it was real nice. It was pretty windy, though.
Low 70's here today and no wind 8) It felt great to finally go for a ride on the new to me 1500 . I can't wait to be able to get MS-DEUCE our on the open road >:(
They are predicting 1-2" of wet snow over night. I guess we won't see the eclipse, again!
We're supposed to get a low of 26 on Tuesday, with about an inch of snow, too! This is entirely too late for snow.
78F today, with a bit more wind, but that won't stop me from running errands on Nadine!
drizzling out side right now and a heavy rain fall in effect till about midnight then calling for 2 ~ 3 cms. of heavy snow till about 0800 tomorrow......
We are finally the lucky ones for NOW then I guess because it reached 73 today . My son had a baseball parade and some fun activities afterwards , so the kids enjoyed the fresh air . I was able to get another ride in tonight to try out the solo seat , and boy what a difference from the two-up 8)
Yeah we had typical Kansas weather today. High around 80 degrees F, 30+ mph wind, gusting to over 40 mph (this was before the storms), thunderstorms, hail, and it's now 30 degrees F, calling for lows in the 20's tonight with a chance of "wintery mix" tonight/tomorrow morning. Go home weather, you're drunk...
Here is what I woke up to this morning. Not really enough to matter, but still snow. It was snowing when I took this too.
I hate surprises. Got up at 03:00 to let one of the dawgz out, who wouldn't go out during the hail storm, and found this...

It was that light at 3am?
It was pretty bright out there, but I did a time exposure.
oh nothing so exciting as a fresh snow fall to make everything look so nice and clean, bet you guys are just so excited over that nice clean snow, this is what we got today, and been doing it hard since midnight, my lake in the back is the deepest I have seen in the last 10 years.....

We got that too, but it came before the snow.
I'm used to the crazy weather, but a 50+ degree temperature swing, high wind, thunderstorms, rain, hail, and snow all in less than 18 hours still surprised me. Especially this time of year. Only thing that might beat this in terms of odd weather was the "thundersnowquake" that happened a few years ago. It was thundering during a snowstorm that coincided with an earthquake.

That ought to help melt away the "gifts" left by your neighbors pet!
PC I did clean what has melted in the front this morning, and I was very good about it I did place it all in a plastic bag and placed it next to their garbage bins. This past fall there was a issue with the water line to the house and the city dug it up and left it, so my front will need some work this spring, now once we get a break in the rain I will wander about the back in my hip waders and find any and as much surprises as I can and do the same with them....
OK, 78F yesterday, now 40F and dropping with a light dusting of snow on the overnight tonight......YUP, it's spring!
well stopped raining now and so going to see if the fish are biting on my lake,
fishing season is open to all the members of the forum.....free and all the fish you catch are yours...
That's enough to get a typical Wisconsin citizen to get his tackle out...and maybe a boat! Did you know that a lot of Wis. High schools give a letter for fishing? :P
lol "F"
just started to snow about 5 mins ago
you can see the ground...that's a sign.

We got about 2-3". It was blowing so much, though, most of it seemed to end up stuck to stuff like trees, and in drifts. There was 3" on the hood of the jeep. NOT my idea of a good time.
Back to no snow and the weather guesser is saying 60'sF for the rest of the week and 70'sF next week. Yup, it's springtime in Indiana!
Supposed to be raining and cold..it isn't....HAD to go for a little ride. The river stage hasn't reached flood, yet, but it's pretty high. A guy I never met before saw me taking pictures and asked to take one of me...Oh, that's one of the fabled Mississippi freight barges in the background. That's just a little one. Sometimes they get 20 of those barges connected together.

Awesome pics Troll . . . love the color scheme!
Too bad its snowing huge flakes right now in Sioux Falls! I should be able to ride on Friday though, along with oil change and a much needed wash!
ok Easter Sat. and it is 1506.......bike is outside in the shed, living room is almost back to normal, few small things to do. Bike is fuelled, tons of sand and grit on the roads yet, and I have to work my three days this week 22/23/24 and then off for 11 days. So time to get yard stuff done and if all the rain happens and the roads are cleaned off then time to go for a few rides..........
Just got back from a 125 mile tour through south eastern Minnesota...60 and pretty sunny, but VERY windy. No big deal, it's always windy on a bike! Home to the thriving metropolis of Lanesboro (no relation), and back using county roads...Couple of pictures of the Minnesota Mountains...kinda reminds me of the Front Range...NOT! Yes, I found there was still some snow, here and there. Today was the Spring "Flood Run". I went west, AWAY from the river....
ok took till the last picture to see if you had your ears on the bike or not, bet they come in handy in weather like this......
I still have the "winter front" on...going to be a while before I take that off...
That's still a great looking ride, Troll. I love two-tone's
If all goes well, and according to plan, you'll get to see it in your driveway in August!
looking forward to it!
